That is because of baseball, though. Just because it isn't there, doesn't mean it's gone *officially*.

It isn't baseball -- next Monday, Fox will be airing two hours of Prison Break.

Wrong... it was on Wednesdays and did OK. Not until moving it to Thursday did it become a hit. It thrived in that time period.

Monday is an "If necessary game"... otherwise they will fill with Prison Break.

I never watched Seinfeld, as stated, so I didn't pay attention to when it was on.

Ok, let's think about this for a second. Your argument proves my point in other AD threads. It thrived because of that little show called Friends. I'll say it again and continue to say it, AD is a show that needs a strong lead in. It's not a good show to start off a night with. There's a difference between moving a show amongst other strong shows, and moving it to a night that has nothing that matches it.

Yes it needs a strong lead-in. And they already tried that by putting it after the Simpsons and it tanked. They are not trying to save it by putting it on Mondays... but there is no where else it can go.

If you think the Simpsons is a strong lead in, you need to go back and check the ratings for that show.

However, I do think that it was a far better spot for that show than as a lead in to Kitchen Confidential on Monday nights.

In Fox's defense, they did put it behind American Idol a few times. While it posted its best ratings ever, it also lost more of the Idol lead-in than other shows in that same spot had. The unfortunate reality is that the mainstream audience is never going to like this show.

Apparently. Seinfeld became a ratings juggernaught in the third season, 1991-1992(on Wed. nights). Friends didn't come along until 1994 and even then it didn't catch on until late into the first season which would be spring 1995. Seinfeld was in its sixth season when hit the airwaves. Shows don't last that long that aren't popular. Nor does just any show inherit the Cheers 9:00 timeslot. So I'm not sure how you claim Seinfeld was popular because of Friends.

I'm thinking more along the lines that Friends was sandwiched between Mad About You and Seinfeld which helped nurture its success.

I thought that we agreed on last week thread that we wouldn't be discussing the show's ratings on the episode thread and instead, that discussion would be better off placing it in this thread:

Actually, if you look at the TV ratings, it didn't become a success until 1993 - 94 season.

Wasn't in the top 25 in 91-92: http://www.classictvhits.com/tvratings/1991.htm
Cracked the top 25 here in 92-93: http://www.classictvhits.com/tvratings/1992.htm
3rd here in 93-94: http://www.classictvhits.com/tvratings/1993.htm
1st here in 94-95: http://www.classictvhits.com/tvratings/1994.htm

Regardless, seeing that, you are saying the 9th ranked show made the number 1 show?

1993 Seinfeld(4th season) was still on Wed. drawing 18 million people. Turning it into a #3 show before moving to Thursday in 1994. So the 9th ranked Friends gave Seinfeld that extra million viewers push for 19 million viewers to make it #1?

Must See TV History - Interesting to see all the failed shows from Must See night.

Anyway, hopefully we are all fretting about nothing. On to the show!

Each episode so far has been better than the last. I hope this trend only improves.

I watched this show for the first time tonight, and there were some very funny moments, even though I don't truly understand the family dynamic.
