Well, you can't say Buster doesn't have a type.

Mamma horny, Michael.

The best line of the night: "More touching!"

Second best was Tobias: "I can taste these meaty leading man parts in my mouth already."

EricDSnider 09-27-05 12:49 AM

It definitely was an "odd" episode. I laughed a lot, but there was a lot of weirdness, too, right from the beginning: The "previously on" stuff didn't actually happen last week. Well, some of it did, but then there were things that would have happened between the last episode and this one, like George Sr. being put on house arrest. So that threw me off. And then it ended differently, too, which threw me off some more.

"That's an awful lot of money for the stupidest idea I've ever heard" is a great line, though.

JasonF 09-27-05 12:55 AM

Best line about tonight's episode, from the Television Without Pity forum:

"I'm going to start using the phrase 'You're a regular Brad Garrett' in day to day conversation, even though nobody I know recently lost an Emmy to him."

This was one of the worst episodes of AD I can remember, but it's still head and shoulders above everything else on TV.

scott baio's character is going to be awesome. just the name cracks me up.

I think that's because she is. It looks like it's going to turn out that she's not the sharpest knife in the drawer and that Dave Thomas was actually trying to protect her by scaring Michael away from her.

Overall, the show was still hilarious, but I didn't like the whole Wee Britain thing and the spy movie spoofs. It reminded me vaguely of the Family Guy which makes really shallow references that aren't particularly clever or funny.

EEz28 09-27-05 02:12 AM

"I always loved those leatherly little snappy faces"
"You certainly have a type"

"Why do I eat breakfast before I come here"

"This is where all the big T.V.'s come."

Many funny lines IMO, while it was a weird episode and totally not for first-timers, i still enjoyed it.

Oh, come on! That was one of the best jokes of the episode! This was a really good one too: we got to see a new chicken dance, Opie had to suck up to Andy Griffith, a slew of Tobias jokes. The only things missing were the kids and Ron Howards version of "On the next Arested Development". I just think they didn't have enough time for this one. Wee Britain was freaking genius! rotfl

I loved the Brad Garrett dig. One of the worst episodes? :hscratch: How was it so different from all of the others?

belboz 09-27-05 03:17 AM

Okay, I have to admit that I missed the whole Wee Britain joke. I was just squeezing some Vietnamese hot sauce into my noodles and it reminded me of Little Saigon in OC and I finally got the joke. Yeah, I'm not the brightest bulb on the tree. Incidentally, this isn't he first time I've gotten an AD joke long after watching the show.

I still think the spy movie/show references were Family Guyish, though.

shawagg 09-27-05 03:35 AM

it said no really.

More touching!

They told be it was a Bob.

Come on people, it's as good as ever. I think you guys are all getting hung up on the last ep of season 2. That was so jam packed because it they didn't know if they were coming back. So they threw everything at it and tied up all the loose ends.

This is the best thing on TV. Period (again).

JTH182 09-27-05 05:35 AM

I thought he was the guy who played the Soup Nazi... I told him I liked his work!

Chew 09-27-05 06:07 AM

What, nobody has posted a chicken dance .gif yet? :(

The episode did feel a little "different" than normal, even beyond the opening credits and no "next on". But, there were still plenty of great lines within.

That fits right along with the stuff in the "next on" segments that show stuff that never happens in the next episode. It is just on at the beginning instead of the end. This way they can cater to new viewers recapping the high points.

Forgot about that one. That was great.

Best scene of last night's ep.

See, and I thought this was an order of magnitude better than last week's. :) Different strokes, I guess.

I'm with you. I loved it. A lot of the subtle humor that was missing last week was back for this episode. Wee Britain was hilarious (the Itty Bitty IRA  ).

Loved it, but still thought it was a downstep for AD. Also, like others have said, this was definitely NOT an episode for newcomers...I hope the ratings are up a bit. The Brad Garrett line was genius, Charlize was great and the "Michael was struck by something from his childhood" bit was absolutely hilarious.

The sign behind him when he got hit said "Merry Poppuns". Was that only a change to avoid Disney?

Good point. We all know "Family Guy" was the first time anybody thought to parody spy films or James Bond.

This ad appears on http://www.imoscar.com/:

You used to be able to click on it, and there was a huge thing that made it clear that "Mary Poppuns" was in no way connected to "Mary Poppins." But it doesn't work anymore for some reason.

Very funny episode. A lot of "freeze frame" and background jokes.

I liked when George Sr. referred to "the O.C." and Michael said "Please don't call it that."

Sadly, my affliate started the show early so I missed the whole "Previously On..." sequence.

j_sutton 09-27-05 08:44 AM

"But if he had been Jack the Ripper, he would have soothed himself in a most unsavory way..." <cut to drawing of Jack knifing a woman>

I loved all the awkward Jack the Ripper/hooker comments.

Yeah, and the fact that the guy that chased him down said, "how would you feel if I came after someone stupid in YOUR family?"

I do agree that somethign was off. the episodes seemed forced. but still was pretty damn funny and had a lot of hilarious lines.

Finally, we got to see George Senior's chicken impression!

was there an episode skipped? because last week, George Sr. was not fitted with the ankle brace and other things. what the hell happened? it was like an entire episode was skipped. i don't understand.

can someone please explain?

Big Boy Laroux 09-27-05 09:44 AM

and what the hell happened to Uncle Oscar?

The 'previously on' inserted scenes we're not in the last episode. It was a joke of sorts.

Oh yeah, and:

M:"Oh, you teach kids, huh?"
R: "I like to think they teach me."

I thought the episode was hilarious. Even better than last weeks. The Jack the Ripper stuff was great.

"And I shall drop you off alive, hooker or no." (mouthing) "What is wrong with me?!?"
