Decent episode, definitely setting more things in motion. Vorenus looks to be out for blood. And since I sadly don't even know the true story of Caesar, his story is interesting to me - and I'd say he's setting himself up to be screwed.

Thought it was a much slower episode than the others have been, but still pretty good. Pullo getting to the bottom of the affair with the assistance of the boy was great.

Everyone else quit watching this already? Come on, it's finally getting pretty good... I'm hooked. HBO has me for 2 hours every Sunday with this, Curb and Extras. :)

With this show I keep looking at the clock hoping that it has lots of time left, and it always seems like too much has passed. :(

Same here. The time just seems to go too quickly. Im really hooked on the series thus far.

The characters Titus Pullo, Octavian and Atia are outstanding. Just about every scene with Titus is great. Im also really liking the subtile plotting and scheming with the characters.

Absolutely great episode! I think that maybe a lot of people are disspointed at how little action there is in this show so far, but I love the intrigue and politcal machinations. Like others have said, Titus Pullo, Octavian, and Atia are great and so is Marc Antony and Caesar himself.

I know the general outline of Caesar's story, how he dies and everything, but I can't wait to see where the show goes from here. I love how the show is slow and focuses more on the politcal realm and not so much on the military.

Fantastic episode last night - perhaps the best thus far, IMO.

Caesar's wife being carried through the town with everyone snickering until she finally spots it. Ooops.

And then Cervilla<sp?> carves out those curses against Caesar and Atia. Wow she didn't leave much out did she? Including cursing Caesar's wing ding hoping it would dry up and fall off and wishing Atia to be raped by dogs. Yikes -eek-

How about the Mother being proud of her son - thinking he and Caesar were playing Ass Pirates in the kitchen closet. -eek-

I forget, did she advise him *to* play hard to get, or *not* to play too hard to get? :lol:

Vorenus is simply meant to be a soldier - not an entrepeneur - he looks too bad-ass in that armor.

Loved the graffiti. :lol: We should have had that in DC about 7 years ago. ;)

Octavian is turning into quite the pint-sized badass.

Octavian and Pullo make an unlikely yet great pair.

I don't think he had too much choice. After his slaves that he thought would bankroll his new business all came down with the "Black Flux" (I think they called it) he had no other source of revenue.
Especially since he apparently decided that killing on the battle field was one thing, but acting as muscle for his friend and killing a guy for owing money was something else alltogether that he was not prepared to do.
He was lucky Marc Antony honored his original offer. (well minus a thousand cistersies)

When he brought that one slave boy home though I couldn't believe they didn't hose him down before bringing him into the house. Plus he let his family touch the filthy little bugger. :whofart: -eek-

Vorenus' wife looked none too happy that Pullo's new girlfriend was gonna be their new house slave girl. I think she thought the girl was way too good looking to keep around. And she is. (good looking I mean) :D

By far the best episode yet. Can't wait till next week.

She thought Pullo sent her as a spy becasue he saw her and the childs father together. That's how he knew who to grab when they kidnapped the guy.

Very good episode.

The scene with Atia congratulating Octavian on seducing Caesar and then acting disappointed when he told her he didn't was great:lol:

Best line...

Octavian - "Torture him!"
Pullo - "What a salty one you turned out to be. And I was worried about bringing you along!"

I absolutely love this series. Could someone make a guess as to when we might expect "Rome: The Complete First Season" on DVD. My brother is the biggest fanatic on Roman History, and this would be a nice to get him. His birthday is late April...I'm assuming that's not going to happen.

This series has really hooked me. As someone said, HBO owns me Sunday nights (well, owns my DVR anyway). It's a bit Forrest Gumpish with the historical presentation, but the story is very compelling and accurate enough to not seem just plain silly. I'm actually glad they have not completely overdone the sex/violence and gone Caligula with this series, which I was afraid they might do. I also didn't care for the presentation of Caesar at first, but he has grown on me and now feels right. It is hard to believe 50 minutes passes by so quickly.

I was sure that Octavian and Pullo were just bluffing that poor sap about the thumbs and the killing. No mercy!

I don't think they were going to kill him until he told them the child was his.

They were already cutting bits and pieces off before that, it just made it easier. He wasn't going anywhere once he admitted the affair.
