"Intervention" on A&E - anyone else addicted?
My favorite show on TV right now, Sundays at 10PM. C'mon, someone else here has got to share my love....Great programming.
|
Yes I love it. It's wonderful.
|
I watch it every week. Great show.
|
What is this? Do they film alcoholic interventions or something?

I just looked at Yahoo TV listings and it looks like Intervention isn't coming on tonight because of a 24 marathon or something. Damnit. |
Sounds interesting...thanks!

Yes, this show is great. Been watching it with friends since it started. The best episodes are the one with the girl who is a cutter and the one with the boy genius with the gambling addiction.
|
The next episode sounds pretty good:
Rachel and Tommy Update (#11). Sunday, September 11 10:00PM ET/PT Friends and family gather to save two addicts -- Rachel, once a beautiful child in an upper-middle class family who has turned to heroin and prostitution, and Tommy, who quit his executive job and sold his Lexus, retirement plan, and million-dollar condo to sustain his cocaine habit. |
Seen that one. The cocaine guy is crazy, you gotta watch it.
The prodigy gambler is by far the best one, and the follow up episode on him. Talk about a guy hittin' the bottom and still sinking.... |
I posted my favorite shows above in post #7, but the one that shocked me the most was the lady that was addicted to beer. I never imagined someone could consitently drink so much beer (and I went to my share of parties in college). I mean she'd drink at home when she got up, on the ride to work, stop at the grocery store a few times a day for more beer, during her breaks at work (until she'd throw up in the work bathroom), then drink more when she got home. wow.

This coming from illni420. :) Never saw the one with the female alcoholic, but did see the guy from Huntington Beach who would drink non-stop as well and travel to Berkeley, drinking pretty much all day. That guy was fuuucked up.

This episode it titled Cristine and Kelly P. and will air on 9/12. The episode also includes a segment on an anorexic woman with a 3-year old who imitates her mother's anorexic behavior. That was really messed up. |
I was watching A&E tonight and saw a commercial for the next episode on 10/2. I work with Michael - I was floored when I saw the commercial and there he was..........whoa.

"So what's he like? Did you know he had/has an addiction?"
He seems like a amiable, laid back kind of guy. Now that I know he had an addiction to pot and booze I see things but who knows if that's just me jumping to conclusions. He's done a few strange things since I've been working with him but nothing that would point to an addiction. Overall though he's a nice guy. I'm not one to judge anyone anyway putting aside the fact that I've yet to meet anyone without some type of addiction. I've heard what happened with the actual intervention but I don't want to spoil it for anyone else. |
This is a really great show. I've seen all the episodes so far.

Has it not been in reruns for several months?

Looks like I am a bit behind the curve on this show, but is anybody still watching this? Are these all re-runs now?
Anyway, anybody watch the "Tim" episode on Sun/Mon, guy addicted to crack, bugging out in the sewer drain, what was up with that? And why on earth would somebody as hot as that girl, Madison I think, still be with him after all that b.s.? |

There are new episodes on?! I need to start watching again, this show is one of the most entertaining on television, and I don't know why (maybe I need an intervention from this show :) ) Is it still on sundays at 10pm?
|
Yes, Sundays at 10pm. New episodes started a couple weeks ago.
Yes, Madyson is an idiot. |
Had to bump this thread for the new episode that was on this week.
Spoilers below if you haven't seen it yet - This was the first episode I can remember where the subject of the show actually died after the intervention, treatment, and eventual relapse. The subject was an alcoholic who was an owner/operator of multiple tanning salons in the Las Vegas area and was an alcoholic for the better part of eight years. He went from a rich guy who was incredibly physically fit, with a wife who looked like a playmate, to a broken down, bruised, fidgety, skinny mess who developed cirrhosis of the liver. Rarely do the subjects of this show look so awful - and that's saying a lot. The follow-up text at the end of the episode was pretty jarring, though. He was kicked out of treatment after 30 days for not taking his recovery seriously (he was in complete denial of his addiction for the entire epsiode). Within three weeks he had relapsed, developed severe internal bleeding and hemorrhaging, and ultimately passed away. I kind of figured he wouldn't make it too long, but I'm so used to seeing everyone on the show either get clean, or relapse and go back to treatment that when they mentioned he died a few weeks prior to the episode airing, it was pretty shocking stuff. This show is intense. Anyone else still watching? |
