Six Feet Under - "Static" - 8/14

A few points:
-Claire didn't irritate me. The last few episode's Lauren Ambrose has delivered some great performances. Under any other circumstance I would find her irritating, but her actions were obviously due to the loss of Nate - and it made me feel sorry for her. Her scene at Nate's grave was both heartbreaking and funny.
- I thought Claire was going to get mauled by that cougar from a few episodes ago.
- As it was happening I was praying that the Brenda/Billy scene was a dream. It's the most "icky" I've felt since watching SFU. Obviously they wanted to toy with our heads one last time.
- 6 weeks after Nate's death and everyone is still shaken. Apparently Nate's death is hitting everyone harder than expected.
- David seems to take the bad situations worse than anyone else. Whenever something happens he turns into a hallucinating basketcase. It's getting irritating seeing him go to these extremes again.
- Was Claire given that green hurse shortly before the pilot (since that episode mentioned Nate Sr.'s new hurse)? If so, it's interesting that she was given the hurse shortly before Nate Sr. died - and lost it shortly after Nate Jr. died. Don't know if that contributed to her sadness after negotiating the sale on it.
- I'm wondering if the Fischer's would just sell the business fully to Rico. The constant death was always something that ate at the Fischers, and the death of Nate Jr. may have been the final straw. Maybe the "happy ending" for the Fischer's would be to remove themselves from the business altogether, as they have to start thinking of "living" and stop dealing with death. To me it would seem like a positive step. Just a thought.
Can't wait for the series finale.

Funny...but at the time I thought Nate's hair style change was a clue. Up to his death, at the start of season 3 was it (?) he had it kind of spiked up. After that, it was down and more "normal." Like it wasn't the real/true Nate.
Prob'ly nothing... but wanted ta get on this now in case the finale makes me go "I shoulda said something then!"

For anyone who's interested, there's a great video called Six Feet Under Season 5: Launch Shoot Trailer. It actually gives hints as to the main core conflict that each of the character faces, as well as how they might turn out in the last episode - Everyone's Waiting. Plus, it's beautiful, nostalgic, and that song seems to fit really well.

I posted that a little before the premiere - but the thread received no replies.

Check out the extra on the season 3 dvd about the making of the season 3 trailer. Very interesting stuff and symbolic scenes - that would have went unnoticed to me if I hadn't heard of them in the extra.

I think I'm going to get the SFU Soundtrack: Everything Ends. I really like the Arcade Fire song they played at the end of the "Static" episode. And I like the song in that Launch Shoot Trailer too. Apparently that Arcade Fire song is only available on the sountrack! Yeah, I'm a fan

Thank you! I was trying to find out what that song was. I thought it was david byrne. I enjoyed how the song just came full blast after the fade to white on Brenda's face. Looks like that song is available on iTunes, too! Will defintely download it...

What an infantile hypocrite.
While people deal with such emotional distress in different ways...the second their behavior risks the life or wellbeing of another, it becomes inexcusable.
