I'd guess the original CSI falls into this category for me. Although I watched it when it first started, I didn't think that much of it. Then I keep hearing the praise that its the number 1 show on TV. I just don't get it. I mean its OK for a fluff show (one to watch if nothing else is on and nothing to catch up on Tivo) but it just is blah to me anymore. Having said that, I continue to Tivo all the episodes and watch the entire first season of CSI:NY. I will say that I dumped CSI: Miami though. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping I can do the same to the others.

(when Starbuck had to

It just got better from there and now it is one of my favorite shows.

I think it can take about half the First Season (say 6 or 7 episodes) to get hooked. So if you're still near the start, keep watching.
I'm almost to the end of the first season. The last episode I watched was Tigh me up, Tigh me down, where the one guys wife comes on board. Its a decent show, but I find it kind of confusing and hard to follow in spots if I'm not paying 100% attention to it. One thing I still don't understand is when they keep switching back to the 2 soldiers on the ground in the cyclon city (I forget their names). At first I thought that whole thing was a flashback, but now it seems like its running concurrently in time with the rest of the stuff. I guess I missed where they explained what that is about, so everytime the show switches focus back to those 2, I really don't understand whats going on or how it relates to the rest of the show.

I don't get Gilmore Girls, Desperate Housewives, Rescue Me, and I usually avoid procedurals like the plague. The exception is Boston Legal which not only has James Spader in the lead role, but copious amounts of Shatner. How can you go wrong with that?

I keep hearing about BSG, but I still haven't seen an ep.

I wouldn't watch half the tv I do if it wasn't for recommendations from people. This board alone has turned me onto a ton of great tv shows. I haven't really had any major duds (as I'm pretty easy to please) but some shows took a bit longer to get into than others.

I did try the Soprano's after all the media hype but determined that show just wasn't for me. Too dry.

I don't know if I've gotten into a show based on hype, but I definitly stuck with the Soprano's for 2-3 years based on the hype. I quite watching half way into the forth season but looking back I probably should have dropped the show after the first or second.
