I am pretty sure once it is on there, you can watch it.

You probably know this...but just in case you don't....you won't be able to use your DirecTiVo to record and watch shows with your Dish. You'll need to switch to a stand-alone TiVo if you want it to work with Dish.

FWIW...

We loaded up a DTivo once before a trip to the beach when we weren't sure if they would even have cable, and brought it along with us (sans the DirecTV dish, of course). You just wait until it gets to the loading satellite step, then go to your NPL. Works fine.

You can test this yourself by unplugging the SAT and restarting.

You just won't be able to go to "live tv".
