Entourage "An Offer Refused" 6/26/05

An Offer Refused
Spoiler:

Ari firing the wrong guy! I wonder if we'll get a James Cameron cameo in the future, provided the movie happens. Honestly, is it that difficult to get commitments in writing in Hollywood?

Poor timing on the girlfriend line, Drama.

Ari firing the mailroom boy.

Weinstein's girlfriend. "Go look at a lamp."

While I like this show, Weinstein's GF frustrated me. It made me think that being related to the right people in L.A. can get you a beautiful babe regardless of how you look or how big a jerk you are to people.

Another good - but SHORT - episode. Just 5 or 10 minutes longer would be great.

The mailroom guy getting fired...and then saying "Mr. Gold fired me. My life is over."

Chris Penn, haha, at least he admits he's fat.

Who was Leo? Dicaprio?

Yep, Leonardo.

My guess about the whole Aquaman deal is that the studio was courting Vincent in case Leo passed on the project. If Leo says yes, then they will offer Vince a lesser check for considering the role, but it won't be enough to pay for his house.

Thats just how it is. $$ + Having a glamourous job = babes. And being a jerk means nothing because those women are probably the bitchiest in the world.

Anyway, another good ep. The drama on the show is good (the whole JC/Leo/Vince this) but its also nice to know that it will end the way you want.

I agree this ep seemed short.

"I'd give my left arm to work with James Cameron"

"How about your left calf"

Chris Penn beating the shit out of Drama was great as well

Wish the show was longer.

One other thing I am wondering is accurate, it seems from watching this show that in business negotiations (like what Ari does), the more powerful side may reserve the right to screw you over without fear of retaliation.

I bet JC and Leo are planning another project. I doubt JC would do a superhero movie, especially since it seems like he brings in the projects he wants to do and not the other way around.

I actually think that Leo is going to take the role and for about 2 episodes hilarity will ensue with Vince and gang scrambling. Then Leo will have a scheduling conflict and Vince will get the role. Just my prediction.

My thoughts are that Leo will take the role of a villain in the movie, and then hilarity will ensue due to a fight over who gets top billing.

There was too much Debi Mazar in this episode for my liking. Her acting seemed way too unnatural in this episode. Also, it seemed odd to see her and Vince kiss cheeks around three different times over such a short period of time. Her scenes just felt off to me.

I've never liked her character, so any screen time for her is too much. If they need an estrogen element to the testosterone mix they could have done a lot better.

I loved the Ari/Ari's wife angle this week. Kudos to Jeremy Piven for pulling it off.

Best part was Ari explaining why he had to take a call "at noon on a Wednsday!". All husbands should memorize that speech.

I LOVED Ari's interaction with his assistant. I hope he sticks around for awhile.

Who was the agent he was going to fire handle?

"Lloyd! Get in here, I wanna make out with you for a while."
"Um...okay."

Poor harassed Lloyd.

I wonder if the Aquaman uncertainty will stretch out for the rest of the season. I know Cameron loves water, but would he do something like this? I also doubt Leo would take a superhero role, he's a serious actor now. I liked the way Ari and E's faces dropped when they heard about Leo.

Chris Penn: "I'm going to lose this weight." Yeah, Chris? When? You were fat in Reservoir Dogs, and that was over ten years ago.

That was the funniest moment of the show for me. I just died laughing.

As for the Leo complication, you knew it couldn't be that easy for Vince to get the role. I was just waiting for something to happen.

Mark Wahlberg is Entourage's producer and this kinda reminds me of PTAnderson's Boogie Nights. If I remember correctly, when PTA was casting Boogie Nights Leo and Mark were coming off of the Basketball Diaries. PTA wanted Leo, but he took Titanic with Cameron. So PTA got Walhberg, and Walhberg got Dirk. Since Wahlberg said a lot of this show is based on his early years in Hollywood, I can't help but see the similarities in the story.

Does that mean that Vince will be taking a part in a movie about the porn industry or something similar, or is that supposed to be Queen's Blvd?
