It's not HBO, it's TV.

Quick. Insightful. Witty.

0/10 until they gave us a glimpse of Juna's tits. That moved it up to a 2.

I'll watch ep 2 but if I don't get way more laughs or way more tits I'm out.

Anyone catch the latest episode? Even though I hated the first one, the second one was actually not bad. I actually laughed out when they showed the girls from I Want to be a Porn Star run up the stairs with their mouths full.

The first thing they have to do is get rid of Mickey, the hair stylist. I can't stand his character at all. A flaming hairstylist. How cutting edge.

I watched it and did not laugh once. For some reason though, I don't change the channel. I watched both episodes all the way thru. I gave it two tries and I'm done. I think I watch because this could be really good if it wasn't Kudrow. I actually think this would be a lot better with a male star. A loveable loser type.

Caught the second episode. Laughed a few times again. I like how Kudrow is always smiling. SO aware of the cameras and trying to be...I dunno.. likeable.

The new shows lineup was good, the airplane stuff was good. I dunno...not great by any means, but all the markings of a show that could pick up steam like many others have done. (I didn't lke Curb your Enthusiasm at first, but really enjoy it now. This could be similar. Characters "grow" on ya.")

Sticking with it a couple more.

There was an article today about a woman who won the lottery for a second time.

Seems like Kudrow won the lottery 22 times a year with 'Friends'. A million bucks an episode for this no-talent. She made Aniston's acting look Meryl Streepish.

This new series puts Kudrow on the front burner and her nothingness as an actress shines right thru.

Otherwise, I love this show!

Anyone still watching The Comeback?

I'm still watching, and still enjoying. Was wondering if I'm alone.

I remember people saying they didn't like Lisa's character because she was TOO clueless and that it was hard to watch her go through life without realizing how off she was. Last episode may have begun her "self-realization" process, as she drunkenly stood up for her self to Paulie G (the fat writer who has made it clear he doesn't like her) and stood up for her husband over the wishes of the camera crew with a simple thing like playing a CD.

I must say I did find those two incidents gratifying and wanted to speculate about future storylines with others who may be watching, but we are hard to find!

Anyway...any DVDTalkers still watching?

I'll catch it on ON DEMAND from time to time and the show can be entertaining. I just watched the one where she brings the writers cookies and catches them making fun of her. Pretty funny.

I'm with you, man.

After struggling through the first several episodes, this last one was a real breakthrough. Her moments with the two gay guys, on the phone with Paulie G, and telling off the Lincoln Navigator™ guy were awesome.

I'm not really sure where this leaves us, but a more "self-aware" Valerie could be fun. I'd love to see her start kicking ass instead of just being a dumbass.

And speaking of the Lincoln Navigator™ stuff, that was the funniest thing in the series since the "America's Next Top Porn Star" or whatever it was called during the network upfronts episode.

It seems to me that Lisa Kudrow is just playing a more timid and unconfident version of David Brent.

Looks like we have a couple of viewers.

I wonder if we will see Valerie continue this new found assertiveness, or if she will revert back to her old ways?

And...I wonder if this was the plan for the show, (HBO show that is) or did the writers take into consideration the reviews and decide they needed to retool Valerie sooner than planned?

Not enough buzz for a weekly thread, but I may post a comment or two in this one from time to time. I think the show is picking up and I'm looking forward to future episodes!

Any comments on the last couple shows?

I laughed out loud last night at a few parts. LOVED when they commented on her "80's hair" on the poster then panned up to see that it is still exactly the same, and when the cleaning woman placed her purse on the statue...having lost the treadmill purse holder.

And last week, when such a timid "wanna please everyone" character had to explain why she didn't show for work it was so wonderfully painful. Balancing her explanation, while backing the kids in the cast and trying to appear professional...all the while knowing the cameras were rolling. (lil glances then the changed facial expression.)

Not a big friends fan, never really liked Lisa Kudrow, but I'm loving her subtleties in this show. From the way that sickenly sweet smile appears as soon as she turns and sees the camera on, to the real side when she doesn't realize they are still filming. I'm sure the show will be cancelled but I think it's a great peformance that will be missed. (The same way I felt about Mind of the Married Mind. Oh well..)

Worst show on television.

It makes all the WB Shows look like the Godfather films ...

I've only seen bits a pieces but I do know that her hair looks great with her face on this show. I mean she's kinda, "exotic"(borderline ugly but sill passable) in the face area due to those huge cheekbones and ratlike appearence, , but when she has the right hairstyle she's not bad looking at all.

Last night, when things finally came to a head between her and Pauly G -- so funny!

A fellow viewer!

(Assuming it wasn't sarcastic. Hard ta find anyone who likes this show.)

Yes...I laughed out loud last night a few times. I hope she is not sued by Paulie G. for assault in the final episode. Talk about a villian...there is absolutely NOTHING to like about the Paulie character.

One more episode. Most likely it's last. We'll see if they wrap it all up and leave it as a one season show or not.

No, not sarcastic at all -- I wasn't really excited at the beginning, but it's really grown on me, which I only realized last night when the punch made my wife and I both burst out laughing.

Yeah...my GF hated it, but since I had it on every week she came around. Valerie REALLY puts people off, but that is what the character is supposed to do. And ya don't realize ya "care for her" until she sticks up for herself.

Anyway...thanks for the post! Hope the finale delivers!

Exactly. She's very David Brent, but not nearly as entertaining. I've enjoyed The Comeback though. It makes me curious to see what Lisa Kudrow continues to do after Friends, which is cool.

Yes, I loved it when Valerie punched Paulie G. I could've done without Valerie's vomit, though.

This show really has improved over the weeks, and the above posters are right. You don't really like Val, but you learn to care for her.

And along those lines is my favorite character of the show: Jane. I don't know why, but she's always been a highlight for me. I thought she had a good moment after Val talked to her about the field hockey team. It was quick, but you could see the empathy in her eyes after Val ran into the bathroom. You can tell that Jane has really learned to care about Val and I like that. She's not afraid to stick up for Val, either, as is evident by her sticking up for Val with the writers.

WOW! What a great season (series?) finale!

All excited about her show's premiere, crestfallen when she sees the editting, adamant about quitting, then so happy when she realizes it is a hit. Just perfect. All the things I dug about the show.

I really ended up liking Mark (Valerie's husband) a lot. His "debut" wasn't impressive (bathroom humor) but by the end he was great. Supporting Valerie and saying "Enough!" to the camera crew when he realized she was crushed, then looking like he was tearing up in the Leno audience. (With a final lil "what the heck is this" look when she was signing barf bags with her pic on it! )

Anyway...had ta post. I think many missed a fun lil show. We'll see if it gets "picked up" again for another season, but I doubt it. The finale wrapped everything up nicely for a one season show.
