I had a prediction for this episode, but the description makes it seem like I'm wrong.

I though they were working on having Hoffstedler and Ng come back to town. Hoff would try to do the right and get hanged/lynched for it, while Ng hung back and got away. I didn't see anything else happening, since the guy that was with the boy had led the last NG lych gang.

It's safe to assume Charlie killed Wolcott?

Good finale, answered plenty yet left some possible storylines for next season. Has HBO picked up a 3rd season yet?

Tolliver didn't die yet, did he? Or is it a sure thing that he did?

I thought Wolcott was writing a suicide note with the noose rope in the foreground during a quick shot (I believe during the wedding preacher voice over)

I also believe that HBO renewed it about 2 weeks into the season.

I think Wolcott just killed himself after getting fired by Hearst, since he looked rather distraught after the confrontation.

That's the conclusion I came too. That split-second when you see the hanging was pretty intense.

Was that Wolcott? I thought it was either him or Farnum, but I couldn't really tell.

Anybody notice Medavoy from NYPD Blue (Gordon Clapp). Hope to see him with a larger role next season.

I noticed "Major Dad" as Hearst.

What's going on with E.B.? Is he losing his marbles or something?

So if Wolcott is dead, will Garrett Dillahunt come back next season as a different character?

Great episode. Excellent finale. I have to very quickly watch this one again.

No - he is ecstatic. $100K richer and he still gets to be the innkeeper (and thus a 'big wheel' in Deadwood - at least, that is how he perceives it).

I don't know...I think there is more to it then that. In the previous episode he couldn't even talk about it when Wolcott asked him to sell the hotel.
And then in this last episode he wasn't making a whole lot of sense, and then fell over in the street forgetting where he was.

I know in the last scene of him laying in all the money he sure seemed ecstatic, but also a bit looney.

I noticed him too. I couldn't quite place the face the first time he appeared (must've been the mustache), but when they showed him again near the end of the episode I figured out who he was.

I guess my assumption that Charlie killed Wolcott was based on Charlie's arrival back to camp, and then he shows up at the dance right after Wolcott is hung. Wolcott killing himself would make much more sense. If that's the case, it's really kind of a shame that he got to take his own life, when any number of others would have loved to do it for him (but didn't because they'd get in a little trouble with Hurst).

Which character did he play?

He was the haberdasher who was responsible for Whitney's lavender gloves.

The voiceover work, from Alma walking through camp to the wedding was amazing.

I'm also curious to know why Al wanted Alma to have that note on her wedding day.
