The Shield 05/17/05

Episode Title: "String Theory"

Spoiler:
Monica orders her units to turn the streets of Farmington inside-out when two officers mysteriously disappear after answering a 911 call. Shane tried to make amends with his old crew after Vic agrees to help him get out from under Antwon, but things don't work out as planned. Dutch and Claudette convince Monica to let them take active roles in the case of the missing officers, but soon find themselves at a dead end with the only witness being clinically insane.

Actually, I think they're showing the little seen "Vic Mackey takes on the ID4 aliens" producer's cut tonight.

That kinda makes me wonder if the people running FX were out of their minds bumping off The Shield for ID4.

I was eating when they tipped over the port-a-potty

Another good episode. It'll be intersting to see where they go the rest of the season

Spoiler:
I wonder if the deaths of the 2 cops start the ball rolling for Glen Close's exit from the show at the end of the season

I read somewhere (and I forget where now) that it was a matter of a production delay on The Shield that led to the week off...

NO WAY IN HELL!!!

I disliked Glen Close in a lot of her previous stuff, and she is very very very good on this show, they won't lose her!

I just think her character's gonna have to roll back on her program a bit, and work more with the citizens.

I think antoine's eventual demise will help her and there will be tons of dirty dirty things going on in the next couple weeks, with lots of corruption, but in the end the capt. will come out on top and alceveda will be left holding his weiner in shame!

Anyone else wish they focused more on Vic's family situation at all?? I know it's stressing at times, but I don't think they update us enough on his autistic kids situation.

This episode seemed very similar to the episode in season 1 where somebody was calling 911 and shooting the cops who responded.

In which case, Bell65's response to the spoilerized text is now a untagged spoiler.

Glenn Close was on Leno last night and I thought I heard her say she's only doing one season of the Shield. Is that True? I've really enjoyed her role in the show this season.

To the poster stating that Glenn Close aint going anywhere. Sorry to say, she's leaving.

I bet you they bring back Aceveda to head the unit again.

Thought she was a surprisingly good add to the show, and sad to hear it's not gonna last. Did she not like the job?

I don't think she liked the location. She lives on the East Coast.

Here's the link on GC leaving, as stated above.

Re last night's ep., I found it pretty weird that Aceveda just showed up in a cop's uniform ready to work the case. He is not a cop; he's a city councilman. It'd be like if I just showed up at the shoestore I used to work at, uniform and all, because there was a big sale on, even though I don't work there anymore (thank God)...

Actually, he is a reserve cop.

But he said he wasn't "on reserve" last night.
He just bugs me, regardless.

That and she has a daughter who is in her senior year in High School. She opted out of the series in order to be closer to her.

Great, great, great episode. Would anyone care to sumerize (in spoilers) the previews for next week? Even with the two minute buffer I usually add my DVR cut out just as they were starting.

Maybe you can catch a replay? The preview was intense! Probably would be better to actually see it.

Edit: You can see the preview on the website. Its on the left hand side.

I think she was unhappy living in that drug infested neighborhood shown on the 5/4/05 episode.

Frankly, I dont blame her. That wasnt a particularly posh house.
