The american idol episode was absolutly terrible. I didn't laugh once. And I really wanted too.
The second episode was much better, although I'm left to wonder if it was better because it followed such a terrible episode.

I liked the Rapture episode a lot.

The parody of the Last Supper painting was good.

I think this season is going to end stronger than the past few seasons. Both episodes were above average.

from zap2it.com:
"Cold Case," 9.5/16, kept CBS in front among households at 8 p.m., although ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," 8.5/15, brought in more total viewers (14.77 million to CBS' 14.6 million). FOX moved up to third with an hour of "The Simpsons," 5.5/9, while "The Contender" was fourth for NBC. A new "Charmed" averaged 2.0/3 for The WB.

Boy, Fox programmers really have their head up their asses. Why burn off all the Simpsons episodes at once like that? I hate "sweeps" and all the stupid stunts that come with them.

I gotta say, the second episode was one of the best Simpson's eps I've seen in a long time.
"Do you realize what you're asking me to do? I'd have to turn back time."
"Superman did it!"
That, and the alcoholism line were great.
Not an apologist, just really enjoyed this episode.
