I wonder, with Sirius' vastly smaller audience, will the A-List celebs still come?

Does he really get truly A-List celebs? I haven't heard any big names on there in a while. Granted, the last show I heard was with Jose Canseco a couple months back.

From time to time he got a few big names like Julia Roberts, Arnold, etc but it seemed only when they had something really shitty to shill.

He does get a number of other name guests though. Which I think will continue when he goes to Sirius. Much like him mailing in the show, not much will change.

I never understood it either. Then again I'm not a network exec.

I think E! was run for a time by a woman who was offended by certain words and actions on the Stern show, especially related to homosexuals (meaning mostly lesbians, though I think they bleeped "****" when she was there) - Howard sort of insinuated that she was a lesbian and didn't like his exploitation of the hotness of two girls kissing, etc.

FYI - Son of the Beach was the highest rated F/X show when it was canned. It was one of the highest rated shows on cable.

As for staying on E!, I hope not. I've said it before - the show belongs on Showtime or HBO.

SOTB was a great show and at the top of FX's ratings so it's definitely questionable why it was cut.

And if Stern's show went to Show or HBO, I'd make sure to tune in everynight.

He's going to satellite... He's should make the jump to a cable station (HBO style... Nudity, Language, etc.)...

That's just what I think, but I honestly haven't listened to him in over two years.

It's my understanding that Beetlejuice refuses to go on-air for any broadcast with less than a 20% market penetration.

I agree with that. I don't get a chance to listen anywhere near what I did some years ago, but it seems like every time I turn the show on now it's Richard Christy or Sal on air. It's too bad because Artie was an incredible replacement for the stale Jokeman.

O&A got bored with the cursing and overt sex a few months after starting on XM...it was just an excuse for lazy radio...they still enjoy the lack of censorship, but the show has to be about SOMETHING other than 'Fuck' and dildo's.

It was quicker than that. From the first week they said that they didn't want to curse just to curse and they don't. Their show is about entertaining the audience and they do a very good job at it. Ten times the hilarity and one tenth of the bitterness of Howie. Plus, you don't have to buy a crane to lug around one of those monstrous Sirius Fisher-Price receivers.

But then again Howie invented radio, tell 'em Fred!

E!'s show's rating are going to go through the roof when Howard is on radio. All the people that don't want to pay for Sirus are going to have to watch E! to get their fix of Howard. I admit, I'll probably watch E! much more since I don't think Sirus is worth them monthly fee just for Hward.

so what is going on with the e! show? i'm only getting the 11PM showing, with the 1130 showing replaced by E! news. is this the same for anyone else, its annoying?

Last night the 11:30 show was replaced with The Soup, on my cable.

I just saw Howard yesterday walking into his Condo on the Upper West Side. Liam Neeson was coming out of the building the same time Howard was going in.

In regards to Howard's show, realize this. He uses the FCC crackdown as a smokescreen for his real motivation to move to satellite. Simply, he's totally in it for the money.

If Infinity would have ponied 500 Million like Satellite did, he wouldnt even consider to leave free radio.

I wonder if the 500 million is guaranteed if Sirius (correction!) goes bust. I doubt it.

Prediction ... Howard will be back on regular radio within 3 years ...

XM won't go bust, it's Sirius that's paying him the half a billion. XM just announced they had 4 million subs, 70% of the market. I don't think Howard will be able to get 2.5 million subs for Sirius to equal that.

Prediction....That will never happen. If Sirius did go under, I'd be willing to bet that Howard would just retire rather than go back to commercial radio.

Well, sort of. That is what he gets to produce/program the show and a couple other SIRIUS channels over 5 years. It is not like he is getting that in salary.

I agree. I don't see SIRIUS going under. Maybe it won't beat XM in subscribers, but that doesn't mean it won't exist.

The reason I think he goes back to regular radio if Sirius goes bust is because he's motivated by greed.

His moaning & groaning about being stifled by the FCC is a bunch of crap. Its all about the money for him.

Hard to see him being motivated by greed when he had to know that he was probably turning off many of his listeners (he probably had just as many Republican listeners as Democrat listeners) during the Presidential campaign last year.

I don't disagree that Howard is motivated by greed. I don't think he is solely motivated by greed however.
