I think this will be really funny. I remember they used to run the fake ads for it, I guess they are doing it for real now.

Tom Banjo 05-03-05 11:43 PM

Oh hell yes!

JasonF 05-03-05 11:44 PM

It's French, BITCH!

TheMadMonk 05-03-05 11:51 PM

Cool!

Jackskeleton 05-04-05 12:10 AM

well i guess there was truth to those fake ads in the daily show. :p

I will never quit watching Dave, but CC is clearly going to be the place to be for the best late night viewing.

On the one hand, all the Daily Show people are great, but they don't make a lot of money, so you want them do well and move on to movies and tv, but you hate losing them.

Samantha Bee will get snatched up soon and I don't want her to go.

Groucho 05-04-05 08:19 AM

Sounds good, hopefully they do the smart thing and pair this with the Daily Show.

I hope he takes "This Week in God" over with him. That segment is too good to just throw away or hand off to somebody else.

B.A. 05-04-05 08:56 AM

I can't wait to see him debate w/ himself.

Tracer Bullet 05-04-05 09:35 AM

The extra workload means he'll sharply curtail appearances on "The Daily Show," he said.
Seeing as how he's only on The Daily Show every couple of weeks as it is, I think this is code for "I'm leaving".

:(

dick_grayson 05-04-05 09:37 AM

I thought I've seen him a couple times a week, consistently. He was/is next in line when Stewart leaves or so I remember reading.

I don't know. That's my perception. He definitely isn't on more than once a week anymore.

"Condoleeza Rice, you have the final word. Oh wait a minute, you're a moron."
Damn, I got here too late for all the good quotes... :(

As an aside, his bit about Bush and the two stallions the other night was the first time in as long as I can remember that I was worried about food coming out my nose from laughter... :)

Meatpants 05-04-05 10:24 AM

I think he had a sitcom deal that ended up not going anywhere, good to see he's getting another shot.

DJLinus 05-04-05 10:56 AM

Good to hear. He's by far my favorite person from The Daily Show, past and present.

scottall 05-04-05 11:38 AM

This should be funny. Recently I have come to miss Tough Crowd. It will be nice to have another show wrapped around the Daily Show.

Mordred 05-04-05 11:53 AM

Oh man I can't wait for this. Ever since seeing those fake commercials I thought they could actually make a show out of the idea. Glad to see they agreed with me.

Spanky BananaPants 05-04-05 12:03 PM

This should be good. Colbert has a very funny sense of humor. Interesting that Adam Carolla will be getting a show too...

Eric F 05-04-05 05:47 PM

I don't see Colbert as a good fill in for Jon. When Jon's wife gave birth Stephen filled in for him and was terrible on the interviews.

sherm42 05-04-05 06:30 PM

Wow, the Dail Show is rapidly becoming the next SNL in terms of grooming the next generation of comics.

Lewis Black
Steve Carrell
Stephen Colbert

entitee 05-04-05 06:35 PM

awesome... i finally got around to watching Strangers with Candy and didn't even know he was a part of that. I'm really liking that show too.

spainlinx0 05-04-05 07:18 PM

Wasn't Lewis Black around before the show came to be?

sherm42 05-04-05 08:24 PM

He was around. Wrote some off Broadway plays and stuff. I don't think he became big till the Daily Show.

Bill Murray was around before SNL too, just not well known.

theedge 05-04-05 09:42 PM

I miss Beth Littleford, why did she leave, she did a David Caruso me thinks...

I hope Steve stays on the Daily show, I could not live with out "This week in God".!!

You know you want it!!

JasonF 05-04-05 11:33 PM

Colbert was on tonight's episode, by the way -- he reported live from London. And Monday he did the piece on Laura Bush's comedy routine at the White House Correspondent's dinner.
