I know it wasn't what you were expecting, but it's the only result in Google images for raging bitch

Mis-reading clues needs to have the possibility of stiff penalties.

This would work, I would support this, except for what about the times where more than one team screws up? After this season, it's not hard to imagine... What if (for more than one team) it's too far back to go back? How do they decide who gets Phileminated?

I suppose, if say three teams are in that position (made a mistake, can't go back to another country to redo, so should be eliminated per your suggestion), that they can say the last of those three teams that checks in is eliminated, even if other "mistake-free" teams actually check in later... it'd like be a tie-breaker for last place... but you still wouldn't be accurately representing who might've come in last, because that's not really the same as making a team go back and redo it. Seems like they need to just use more penalties, not less...

As long as you are referring to having the clock only at the time you see the teams actually checking in. Because we basically get to see how far all th teams are when they start the next leg except of course the losing team. Now if you are referring to showing the clock at say when you see the teams on the course, so for example in this show you saw the clock at 1:00 pm the old couple checks in then you had the screenshot of say the brothers performing the log-block task and it showed 2:00 on the screen it would take all the drama out of the show in my opinion.

Also of note, I caught the last 15 minutes of the recap show, and noticed also the brothers probably lose at least 5 minutes when they almost went off the road avoiding a lion. They just seemed to have real bad luck in this last leg.

I was talking about showing a clock when each team checks in. That would have let us know how far behind the Brothers were from the Old people. They wouldn't have to show us the clock during the race, to preserve the "drama." But once all the teams check in, the drama is over. One thing I like about this show is the editing is usually pretty accurate in terms of not giving a lot of false time impressions. To portray the last two teams as if they are "neck and neck" when in reality the last team is "hours" behind is too misleading IMO.

Considering that they mostly check in during the day, the position of the sun is usually an excelent indicator of wether or not 'hours' have passed

I missed the recap episode because I was watching Lost (did not remember to record it). Was there anything special or important that they showed? What did I miss? thanks!

There was one really funny scene with Rob messing with Meredith and Gretchen. They were following him to the airport and he started changing lanes to see if they followed him. Then acted like he was going to take an exit before quickly getting back into the lane (they almost took the exit), and then he slowed down next to them and looked at Meredith while shrugging, acting like he didn't know where he was going. I don't know why they didn't include that in the regular episode, it was one of the funniest things I've ever seen on this show.

I thought it was a pretty good recap episode. There seemed to be more new material than you typically get in a Survivor recap. Has there been a TAR recap episode before? I don't remember one.

There was one part where Ron was calling himself a redneck. It looked like that may be what precipitated Kelly's redneck comment towards him.

Another one was when Debbie & Bianca were lost trying to find the Andes and one of them saying "This is why Mom & Dad stopped going on driving vacations."

As mentioned above, Rob's toying with Meredith & Gretchen was classic.

Debbie & Bianca had no idea that Rob had stolen their cab that one morning at the hotel. Bianca came up to him while they were waiting for the parking garage to open and apologized for yelling at him the previous day. It was all he could do to keep from busting up.

They also showed many of the teams begging in airports, which they usually don't show, but which I've read from past racers is very common.

Nothing too much missed just recap stuff, the 2 girls made a truce with Rob after the earlier incident with the Bus Terminal where he told them not to tell the other teams anything, and they called him a liar.

From what I remember (at least from the seasons I've seen), there's always a mid-season recap. They just normally take the place of the weekly episode instead of being in addition to.

Jim 04-07-05 11:22 AM

I just checked TVTome.com. Last season was the first one where they've had a recap episode.

JasonF 04-07-05 11:28 AM

I thought the recap episode was just OK. It seemed designed to make the viewers hate Rob by showing every sneaky, mean, or dirty thing he did during the race.

"Rob paid a local to lie about which bus was fastest -- AND THEN GOT INSULTED WHEN THE OTHER TEAMS CALLED HIM ON IT!!!"
"Rob stole Debbie and Bianca's cab -- EVEN THOUGH THEY WANTED TO APOLOGIZE TO HIM!!!"
"Bad luck hit the brothers when they flipped their car -- AND THEN ROB JUST DROVE BY THEM!!!"
"Rob was messing with the poor old couple as they drove down the highway -- EVEN AMBER THOUGHT HE HAD GONE TOO FAR!!!"

For what it's worth, it didn't work with me. I still love Rob (notwithstanding the fact that he's a BoSox fan, but hey -- nobody's perfect).

Last night was only the second? I need more ginkgo biloba or something....... -ohbfrank-

Jim 04-07-05 11:36 AM

Forgot to mention the part where in the Andes when they were coming down the mountains in the back of a truck and Rob & Amber's truck broke down. Rob got under the truck and helped fix it to get them going again. If anyone remembers the shelter he built in Survivor All-Stars, he is pretty handy. That shelter looked sturdier than the one the production crew built for Korore this season.

runner001 04-07-05 12:22 PM

wow! thanks all for the recap of the recap. :) that scene with rob tricking meredith and gretchen sounds very funny. (I laughed just reading about it)

Jim, what about the begging in airports? what why were they begging? (for money I assume) Was it only by teams that lost their cash?

Jim 04-07-05 12:57 PM

It wasn't just teams that lost their cash. L&A were begging (also in online video) and they also showed Uchenna doing back flips in the airport lobby trying to get money from people. I've read over at TWoP that previous season racers said it's done all the time in airports by racers.

runner001 04-07-05 01:50 PM

So they're begging for cash just to get more money and not because they are down and out?

Jim 04-07-05 02:11 PM

I'd assume they're begging because they need money for food, cabs, maps, overtipping, etc. They probably just ran low from what the show gave them.

cdollaz 04-07-05 02:29 PM

If I were there I would beg any time I had down time. Why not have as much money as possible to bribe people with, eat, hotels, etc. You never know when having more money than the other teams will come in handy.

That would explain why in that episode that the girls caught up and beat Rob/Amber and the mother/son team. It was not so much the traffic in town but the breakdown of their truck then. Because the trucks left every twenty minutes and the girls beat the other 2 teams by quite a bit(about 20 minutes I recall). It was just not the traffic in town as the editing tried to show us.

Jim 04-08-05 11:46 AM

Schloob1, I was thinking the same thing. The way the recap episode presented that situation gave a very different impression than the original editing.

I'll miss the brothers - they were one of the most entertaining teams in a long time.

interesting leg - they really didn't go that far from start to finish.

Romber continues to rule.

The boyfriends are turning up the obnoxious factor every damn week.

Awesome scenery this ep.
