I put the title into google and this is what was on the first web site.

Deus ex Machina
In some ancient Greek drama, an apparently insoluble crisis was solved by the intervention of a god, often brought on stage by an elaborate piece of equipment. This "god from the machine" was literally a deus ex machina.
Few modern works feature deities suspended by wires from the ceiling, but the term deus ex machina is still used for cases where an author uses some improbable (and often clumsy) plot device to work his or her way out of a difficult situation. When the cavalry comes charging over the hill or when the impoverished hero is relieved by an unexpected inheritance, it's often called a deus ex machina.

So the writers are basically telling us that they don't know how to get out of the situation they've written, so they will just pull something out of their arses and solve the problem?

At least they're honest .

I was going to say, that's not a very promising title for people looking for explanations of things. I didn't read the summary though, so hopefully that's just a clever way of referencing something else.

Not sure. Maybe somebody else can enlighten us.

My guess (and I'm hoping) that it's Locke's backstory.

According to an interview I heard with the co-creator of Lost (forgot his name) this morning, it will be Locke's.

A la the movie Magnolia's frog storm. Lost is too good a show to rely on something retarded like that. I'm sure it's got a different meaning here.

Did we get 2 Claires? I'm so confused. It's been like 12 years since we last saw these people.

The ending of "The Stand" being a perfect example.
