Kevin Rose is leaving G4:
------------------------------------------------------
from www.kevinrose.com

After several weeks of lawyer negotations with G4, they have agreed to release me from my contract. Friday May 27th 2005 marks my last day on the G4 network.

I’m leaving G4 so that I can focus on what I love most, in-depth tech content. Starting with today’s premiere release of our new tech HOW-TO show ’Systm,’ we will begin to build a network of technology television programming from the ground up. While Systm and thebroken will be our two flagship shows, in time, we hope to add more shows to the schedule with former TechTV cast members you all know and love. All episodes will be released free of charge, in a variety of formats (Theora, Xvid, WMV, H.264, PSP), wrapped in RSS (for vidcasting), and liscensed under the Creative Commons.
------------------------------------------------------

I'm not surprised by this at all; he looks like he has been trying to get fired. (yes, I still watch this show, for some reason I haven't been fully able to understand; less reason to watch now; I don't like Kevin P, Brendan, or Sarah.)

Thank God he is leaving. Now I can stop watching. He is the only reason I watched.

I am looking forward to Systm, thebroken, and TWIT podcasts to keep up with what he is doing...

Anyone listen to the podcasts on Leoville.com? With Kevin, Pat and Leo. I've heard the first two. They are 30 min apeice. Closest thing to the old Screen Savers that there will ever be.

I don't know what it is with ipodder/doppler and auto-downloads, but I never seemed to keep up with that one. Now that I'm going entirely manual podcast download, I've added the http://thisweekintech.com/ link to my list.

I can never get Ipodder to download the TWIT shows either, so I just use Bittorrent.

Did anyone catch AOTS yesterday? Was it new, and if so, did they mention Kevin leaving?

No, it was the 358th straight E3 '05 Live show. According to the TiVo, AOTS should be back on tonight.

Kevin Rose leaving G4 (Attack of the Show/ TSS etc)

From his site, that was recently down for a while :

"After several weeks of lawyer negotations with G4, they have agreed to release me from my contract. Friday May 27th 2005 marks my last day on the G4 network.

There was also persistent rumors that he and Sarah broke up? Not sure whether completely unfounded of course.

Ok kev - props for being an idealist, but your business model seems to lack .. well uhm.. the business? Dunno. maybe advertising later?

I guess I'll try and download systm ep1 and see how it plays out.

I've heard all of them and they're running a little over an hour now. Good stuff. Robert Herron and Yoshi have been getting in on them, as well as some of the people who used to be regular guests on TSS.

The show posts at midnight Sunday night/Monday morning for those who are intersted, and in multiple formats, including MP3, Ogg Vorbis and bookmarkable AAC.

Anyone who was a fan of early "The Screensavers" should go to www.thisweekintech.com and download the weekly TWiT podcasts with Leo, Patrick, Kevin, Robert Herron, Yoshi and other past members of TSS. The show goes up for download each Sunday night at midnight.

One note for those that are going to wait to download the next new episode. Leo mentioned in the most recent TWITcast that with the holiday weekend, he wanted to do it on Monday instead of Sunday. The cast seemed to agree with that, so look for the next episode Monday night at midnight.

And if you enjoy it, I suggest donating the $2 a month/$20 a year that Leo requests. I did so before I had even heard the first episode, and they apparently used the first batch of donations to buy audio recorders for all contributors to improve audio quality. Seems like the donations are going to good use to improve the quality of the show.

While I am not a great fan of g4tv.com, I do have to give them credit for their E3 coverage. I thought they did a fantastic job that was light years ahead of what the channel did in earlier years. I have to give them credit for that.

I never knew about that site.

I'm glad that I know about it now though
