Oh brother. -rolleyes-

I hope this 2-parter wasn't a trend toward making this show like E.R. These were easily the 2 worst episodes of the series. Please get back to the basics.

The explosion was pretty cool though.

Maybe so, but they snagged my household with those two eps.

We plan to stay up a little longer and make it 3 straight hours of ABC on Sundays.

There is some specualtion ABC will move Grey's to Mondays next season since they don't have Monday Night Football anymore.

Just was a letdown to me after a good shock value scene with the explosion and Grey getting knocked for a loop. Just my opinion...

That bugged me too.
Otherwise, I liked the 2 part episode.

Jadzia 02-12-06 11:32 PM

The explosion made me laugh, since right before it happened I thought, "That would be really funny if he just blew up now."

I guess Kyle Chandler went into the pink mist. It kind of sucked though how no one cared about his character, they were all just happy no one in their little clique died."

I'd like to see Christini Ricci come back as a love interest for George. They had some good chemistry in their scene together.

So happy that Miranda had the baby natural and no emergency C-section drama. I was really relieved her husband pulled through.

George helping her give birth was great. "Stop looking at my va jay jay!" rotfl

SuperBatMan 02-12-06 11:45 PM

Glad it wasn't just me that was confused on why everything was happy-dorey in the rest of the hospital after the bomb went off.

Heat 02-13-06 12:30 AM

I was doing something else when the explosion happened. Meredith was walking away and got knocked down by the explosion. Was anybody killed?

Patman 02-13-06 01:04 AM

You mean, besides the bomb squad?

All three members of the bomb squad, including Kyle Chandler's character. I guess he won't be a future Meredith love interest. Although considering he gets tomorrow's paper today, he should've seen it coming.

Heat 02-13-06 01:13 AM

So it did knock out the bomb squad. Did they say that they were dead, or is it just assumed? They were wearing armor...

They turned into the pink mist and chunks of body that the chicken anesthesiologist was talking about before he fled the room in the last episode.

Heat 02-13-06 01:18 AM

Ah, the pink mist. They're dead.

Ayre 02-13-06 05:42 AM

Grey: "Did you see that?"
Yang: "No ... what was it."
Grey: "It was like a pink mist"

Kyle Chandler's recurring role as The Mysterious Pink Mist.

Good episode. Absolutely hated the ending with Meredith and Derek. Why does she repeat things when she is nervous? More face time I guess. "I can't" ... "I can't" ... It sounds like she is reading it and not feeling it. Although she did a good job with the bomb scenes.

George's character has been the highlight of the show throughout the season. He has his character down perfectly.

I liked how they flipped the shower scene around at the end. The opening shower scene(pt 1) was a parody of the heart felt ending shower scene. Both scenes involve Meredith, Cristina and Izzy in the shower and George at the door.

That was a nice touch.

My wife has watched this show from the very begining, but I didn't start until last week. I'm hooked now.

TOLEN 02-13-06 08:30 AM

I thought they might keep Kyle Chandlers character around as a love interest for the Doc...But, the ending blew my theory. ;)

I give them credit for still giving us a good show in the face of such an absurd series of gimmicks. For as awful as they could have been, there was still a lot of charm in there. I too hope this was a one-time thing to capitalize on the Super Bowl and that they'll get back to basics.

I thought last night was better then part one. I was also among those that called the bomb squad guy getting blown up. As soon as he started walking away holding the bomb I said to my wife..."this guy is not getting 20 feet before that thing blows up."
I thought it was foolish for Meredith to walk out into the hall to watch him, and figure the only reason why the writers had her do it was so they could do the new version of the shower scene later.

Another reason why I knew the bomb guy was gonna go was that someone had to die last night. They were not going to let Bailey's baby die, they were not going to let Bailey's husband die, and they certainly were not going to kill off Meredith and Burke, or have Sheppard be killed in the next ER due to the explosion. So they went all Star Trek 'expendable crewman' and killed off a guy who, although we have seen now for two episodes, they didn't need for the rest of the show.

Timber 02-13-06 09:27 AM

I'm quickly growing tired of the Sheperd/Merideth thing. It makes Sheperd look like an ass for staying with his wife and putting her through all of this. I think it's ruining his character and not making him come off well at all. At first it was that the wife cheated on him and I was fine with it but now he's just stringing her along and I don't like it.

Oh I'm glad you brought this up and reminded me that I also wanted to rant about that as well. I too have been soooo sick of this story line for weeks now. During that scene toward the end last night where they were remembering their last kiss...I badly wanted to slap the both of them.

I thought the same thing but kept it to myself because I didn't want to ruin it for my wife. She was completely engrossed in the show at that point and I didn't want to break the trance by pulling her back into our living room.

There was a second reason -- to show us the bomb going off.

Agreed, but for a different reason that what you cited. If the bomb never went off, then all the drama we endured for the last two weeks would be shaded by doubt... By having it go off, and by seeing the bomb squad get vaporized, we know for certain that neither the EMT nor Meredith stood a chance and that they were at risk, and that the anestesiologist's decision to save his own life wasn't as lilly-livered as it seemed. The risk was real, it was palpable, and had the bomb detonated on the table there was ZERO chance of survival. That's why we needed to see it go off, to confirm the fears that the past two hours of show had built upon.

Hubcap 02-13-06 10:51 AM

good episode. Much better then last weeks.

penguin42 02-13-06 11:11 AM

Even my girlfriend is sick of this show. its like a really bad soap opera. the 2 parter was ridiculous and unrealistic.

It's funny you say that cause almost as soon as I said that I sort of felt bad because my wife immediately replied..."oh I bet you are right" then the bomb exploded so it was almost like I had ruined it for her.
But then again she is very good at picking out who did it on the crime shows and will often tell me 10 mins into the show and she is most often correct.
So she needed some payback. :p -wink-

They still could have showed the bomb going off without Meredith actually standing in the hall. Either she or Burke could have been on their way to walking out of the ER then the bomb goes off right before they reach the hall.
I think they really just wanted that shower scene. I'm not saying it was a bad idea, it just seemed a little weak. Meredith was very close to completely unraveling in terror prior to the shell's removal. I think in real life the last thing a person in her condition would do is go follow the thing out the building. Besides, I think that a person standing in a hall and having an armor pierceing shell explode would get more serious injuries then one small cut on their head.

Good points. But we still knew they would not kill off any main characters to reinforce the message.
