If Steve Carell wasn't in it I wouldn't even bother but with him I'm willing to give it a small chance. I didn't enjoy the BBC versions as much as some, I do own all the sets, I see no real need to do our own version.

I saw the pilot when it ended up online, and since the script is pretty much verbatim from the UK pilot, I don't think it will be fair to properly judge this show until at least the second episode, at which point we can see how good the brand new scripts are. I know theres been quite a bit of backlash about this remake, but I thought they did a good job with the casting and keeping the tone close to the original. They certainly didn't try to make overtly sitcom-y, although Carell is a bit more broad than Gervais. I actually really liked the casting of the Six Feet Under guy in the Gareth role since at least it doesn't seem like a carbon copy of the UK Gareth.

I will watch to see if it sucks dog or if it sucks horse.
Seriously though, I am hoping this is good. I just hope NBC doesn't screw up a good thing like the Office with an awful adaptation.

Most of the reviews say not to judge it by it's pilot, which is a nearly direct remake of the original. It's when they go to original stories that it becomes a decent adaption.

This will be my first taste of The Office, having never seen a BBC episode. I am looking forward to it, as the commercials have been hilarious. Plus, I'd watch Steve Carell eat a freakin' sandwich on TV. He cracks my ass up.

I'm excited about tonight's premiere. If they can capture even half of the original's magic it should be good. I've been doing my best not to base my opinion based on the BBC version, which to me is perfection.

Didn't they try this like a year ago and it tanked?
Or was the pilot done that long ago and it wasn't good?
I seriously seem to recall hearing about this being on US TV a while back.

I was excited about this after seeing the clips posted a few weeks ago. Then I got Office UK, season 1 from Netflix. I was iffy on the first episode, but episode 2 had me in stitches and they were great from that point on. Suddenly I'm a little more tentative about this version. But if they can manage a similar style I'll be happy, as I know there are only 6 more episodes (and a special) left of the UK version for me to watch.
