Good point. Somehow I think Rob has about a dozen Sox hats packed in his bag. ;) |
I couldn't stand Romber at first. I never saw any of their Survivor stuff because I don't watch that show, but I was tired of seeing them plastered all over CBS's ads ad nauseum. Then, as I watched more, I started to really appreciate the way they play the game, Rob especially. Let's face it-he is the one running the show. Amber doesn't do much. Rob plays to win, which is how it should be. He doesn't bitch and moan, he just goes about business. The fact that he also manipulates things, such as paying the guy to tell the other teams that there was no earlier bus, and stealing the 2 blonde ditz's cab is just priceless entertainment imo.
I am now rooting for them to win it all, and each week I want them to win even more thanks to Team Fudgepack constantly crying like little bitches about them. Seeing them bust their asses to win the leg last week only to get no prize, and really gain no ground on top of that, almost brought a tear to my eye I was laughing so hard. |

I think Amazing Race needs to seriously think on what kind of "race" this is going to be from Amazing Race 8 or 9 or 10 or whatever. If you wanted "stars" who have won previously CBS' shows, do an "all-star" format of the Amazing Race, don't do it with ordinary people who want to have adventure, fun and of course a million dollars. Anyway, I was surprised this was an elimination round, four times in a row, guess they are trying to be unpredictable. And no bunching, I was wondering if the 5 hour wait for the next plane was a "penalty" for quitting last week at the 4 lbs of meat. Next week looks scary, with people crossing dangerous bridges, falling off caves, and falling into ditches. I wonder if Lynn and Alex will stop for the brothers? Agreed. They really major pricks way its been edited but alas everyone loves them, they bring the funny regardless if its lowest common demoninator. As long dont win race and some justice in end bites them back on ass, I'm happy |
I don't see how it would be "justice" if Rob and Amber don't win the race.
|
Well along lines of karma at least P Call me crazy but rather not root for one team that would likely steal from their own mothers just get ahead, there balance and its fine line even in a contest. We'll see how far "romber" push that line.

Bribing a bus driver not to open a door and taking someone else's taxi in a million dollar race is hardly an indication that Rob would steal from his own mother. |
Rob is very slippery and great at playing mind games without being too confrontational, which by far makes him the most entertaining contestant the show has had in awhile. Granted, some of his tactics and personality hasn't won everyone over, but I'd take him over Kendra's KKK attitude or Jonathan's trigger-happy, bitch-slapping attitude towards Victoria.
|
What I also like about Rob and Amber is that they "get the joke". Even when Rob acts angry, I think that's all it is too, an act. He just loves playing.

Plus unlike Kris & Jon, whom everyone was cooing over last season, he and Amber don't make you want to throw-up because of sugary-sweetness. |
I believe that this version of AR features weaker teams which has made Rob and Amber look even better than they actually are.
However, I still give Rob and Amber credit (mostly Rob) for raising the level on how this race should be played. |
Team Romber also deal with bad luck and general "tough" situations better than most teams. Consider the part where they were driving to the horseback roadblock and were "lost". Both were smiling and laughing that they were totally lost. Meanwhile, other teams that are lost would be yelling at each other and playing the blame game. (I have to admit that I probably would be yelling and blaming too)
The biggest thing they have going for them is that they are playing to have fun and winning is not absolutely necessary. Rob says he will win but I truely believe he wouldn't be pissed at all if he didn't win. Other teams are playing specifically to win the money and get very frustrated when they are behind. |
I also like the way Rob and Amber treat the locals. Other contestants, (not so much this season) have been rude and an embarassment, but Rob and Amber always seem polite and treat locals with respect...Still don't like them, but they are playing the game perfectly.

I think Team Rombah is great. I don't think it's smugness at all. I just think, like some others have said, that they find the humor in all that they are doing. I didn't like Rob on Survivor at all until, on All-Stars, he forced me to like him by playing the game better than anyone else. He's doing the same here, playing way over everyone else's heads. Team NeilAndBob are so pre-occupied with Rombah they're forgetting why they're here. Shit, I live in NYC and Rob has me thinking of becoming a 'Saux fan. |

I'm glad rob and amber are on the race.
Two season's ago, everyone was way too friendly with each other, helped each other out with everything, and it just seemed really bizarre to me. They are in a race for a million dollars, they are not there to be anybody's friend. Also, I consider Rob and Amber to be every day people who just happened to get themselves onto Survivor, and then onto the Amazing Race. My thoughts with the gay couple is that the producers are probably encouraging them to talk badly about rob and amber to create the rivalry. I, for one, enjoy it, even if it does get over played.. Oddly enough, every season is just completly different. Will and Tara are probably my all time favorite team with all there bickering. This season also seems to have more interesting challanges than the previous. Next season will again, be completly different, with teams made up of famlies. Can't wait for next weeks, looks great! |
Is it just me, or does Ol' Lady Gretchen sound like the little boy from Problem Child. Some of her expressions are funny. I had my back turned, working on the computer, while the show was on (I record it so I can watch it in it's entirety with my girlfriend), and I keep picturing the little red-headed monster from Problem Child going "ooooooooohhhhh!". If you don't hear the resemblance, try closing your eyes and picture the kid.
I say this, but I don't find her annoying. I always root for the "old couple", but I have other faves as well. |
i love rob and amber :D
|
I'm posting this kind of late, but i have to get my quick $.02 in.
Someone needs to push that mom's son down. How can you talk to your mom like that, have some respect. So glad to see them go. I was so sure it was a non-elimination round and i'd ahve to put up with them for another week at least. I love how Rob plays. You can tell he knows whats its about. Its not personal, its not some bitter rivalry. He's just trying to win. Its not like they're cheating. If they were cheating, then fine, everyone can hate them. I'd be doing the exact same things (granted i'm not clever enough to think of them, but if i did). |
Question about next weeks 2 hour episode. Does that mean it's two legs for the race/two pit stops? Is there any place I can confirm this (I'm in a pool and in a three-way tie for first)? Thanks.
|
According to the TV Guide summary, it will incorporate two legs.
|
Thanks.

We do have one thing in common: putting up with big mouth, front-running, sore loser Yankee fans who think they are God's chosen ones all the time. ;) - Kinda like what Team Rombah goes through with Team EnFuego each week. :D |
