I thought there were good chuckle-worthy moments in this episode. Too bad it looks like it's the last we see of Alex for a while if not longer. Even Mischa Barton's acting didn't bother me this time around.

I liked this episode. I love how this show makes fun of itself. They actually had an episode about how last year was a whole lot better than this year. I thought that was brilliant. It was sad to see Alex go. She was looking even hotter without the purple hair streak. If she only had the butterfly tatoo removed. I really wanted to see Chino take those two hired punks down. I would have actually liked to have seen Alex vs. Ryan play out for a little longer. I agree with Patman Mischa's acting didn't really bug me this episode.

I really hated to see Alex go. The chemistry between the two was just well played out. She brought alot to the show, and I'll definitely miss her. Marissa did alot better with the acting like a few of you said. Anyone else not want Ryan and Marissa back together?

That's the other problem. The most interesting characters tend to get sent away.

So Alex and Lindsay are gone,
Spoiler:
Seems like the show is getting more and more boring. I did like the line Seth had about The Valley (The O.C.'s fake version of their own show) being better last season.

I don't know what's going on with The O.C. Maybe doing an extended first season(last year had 27 episodes) tapped them too much creatively. Maybe Josh Schwartz is too busy with that other new show of his. Maybe the writing staff just sucks. Whatever it is, this show is approaching unwatchable status for me.
Oh, and one other thing. Why is it that they insist on introducing great supporting characters(Anna Stern, Luke, Lindsay, even Zach and Alex were alright) only to get rid of them? Word of advice to Schwartz and Co. Ben McKenzie and Mischa Barton can't carry this show. You don't believe me? Take a look at the last two episodes which are arguably the worst of the series.

I think Ben can carry the show if needed with Peter and Adam providing some good laughs. Mischa was better this episode but she can't carry the show. I do not like how they are writing Ryan this season. He is such a little nancy boy this year. Has he punched anyone this season? Not counting the little jab he gave Seth last night. They need to bring back the wife beater and focus on his badassiness like they did last year. The OC is not the OC without some fights Schwartz.

This show went from being my favorite show last year to being on the brink of unwatchable.
Only real reason i keep giving it chances is Summer. Hopefully they fire the wardrobe lady because the clothes on this show are horrible (at least on the women).

I just checked epguides.com and found out that they are making 24 episodes this year. That will be 51 episodes in two years. I think that is proof of a brain drain and why there has been a quite noticeable dip in quality this year.

I wouldn't considder last season typical. The 7 seasons which aired in the summer (while other shows are filming) were shot while other shows were still airing their seasons. It was more of a 7 episode summer season, 20 episode normal season, and this year's 24 episode normal season.
I've been rewatching the 1st season on DVD and here are the conclusions I have drawn so far up until the TJ episode (Middle of watching it now):
= Marissa was much cooler as a girl who wasn't sure about anything, shy, curious, than now as a stuck up bitch the likes of which were poked fun of in the begining.
= Ryan - as stated in this thread already - has really pansied out. He hasn't done anything even remotely bad this season. No big fights, no major law breaking. Bleh.
= Summer - Most hated character last season, 2nd most this season since Marissa is such a loser now.
= Seth - Too confident now. In the begining he was a geek and knew where not to tread. Making him cool is not.
Luke, Jimmy, and Anna were good characters, better than much of what is left around now.

ok episode
Sandy was pretty good this episode
"It's a Boogie Nights reference, expect a lot of them"
The jokes about the first season got old after Seth's opening speech. We get it, you're sick of fans bitching about how much better the first season was.
There's an brief interview with Shannon Lucio up on E!'s site plugging her shark movie
