It was pretty dull, but I am going to give it at least a couple of more episodes before I abandon it. It has a supernatural theme, so I don't see it lasting very long. It seems like anything out of the ordinary gets cancelled fairly quick anymore. I'm still pissed that they chose this over Tru.

raven56706 01-20-05 01:33 PM

what else is better then the battle between good and evil...... rotfl

crankyman 01-20-05 02:37 PM

hmmm. i was hoping this would have an 'american gothic' type feel to it. bah.

Flatlander 01-20-05 02:48 PM

I was pretty bummed out when I found out it was more of the teen soap. I am going to give it a try for a few episodes hoping that it gets more into the supernatural aspect then the who slept with who each show. I'm thinking I went into it with the wrong expectations.

raven56706 01-20-05 02:52 PM

well the young bad girl is a hottie.......

I agree.

The pilot was unimpressive. Hopefully they'll focus more on the supernatural story and less on the teen soap part of it. I'll give it a few more tries just because the previews look like it could improve.

madara 01-20-05 04:12 PM

Blah, Brated crap. Had laugh that anorexic guy 5 secs in is actually a character to show.

Tscott 01-20-05 04:27 PM

I just watched it (I watched West Wing live, taped Alias and had to scrounge up another VCR for this), and it was ok but nothing new. I don't get why FOX thought it was a good idea to debut this opposite Alias, both shows target similar audiences, but Alias already has a devoted fan base. I get that they were trying to get viewers from AI to keep watching, but even watching on tape I could feel millions of reality show fans changing the channel as soon as the slow aerial shot over the small New Jersey town started.

If you missed it because you were watching something better, picture this, take the cast of the OC and recast them into BtVS. Basically, "Buffy" washes up on the beach, "Angel" saves her and is attracted to her her but he's dating "Cordelia", "Buffy" stays at "Willow's" house and weird things happen. "Xander's" a total loser, but still wound up getting some tail from "Cordy" during one of those weird things, also a car blew up but no one got hurt. "Buffy's" watcher shows up at the end and winds up trying to kill her, only a swarm of wasps stops him. And now you're caught up if you want to give it a try tonight.

Just what television needed - yet another brain-dead teen soap opera, only promoted with a supernatural hook to try and convince viewers that it'll really be different this time. Why didn't they just throw Satan's spawn into the OC cast and be done with it ?

I gave up at about the 20 minute mark.

Tonights Episode seems to be moving along nicely....

raven56706 01-20-05 08:29 PM

todays episode is much better....... the melrose place guy is cool as hell..... better to see him more in this episode

Patman 01-20-05 10:20 PM

I recorded the pilot from last night and watched it, and since CSI was a repeat, I watched the PP second episode after The O.C. and came away unimpressed as well.

I don't think the lead actress, Elisabeth Harnois, playing Christina, acts all that well, she's just a little too dull to root for or against.

Grant Show tries hard to be the big slick devilish guy, but just doesn't quite pull it off either.

The signs of the devil's daughter and the horrible forseen consequences seem far too horrible to sustain a long-running show, but a 2 hour movie, sure, I'm there.

With far too many scenes of girls in bathing suits in both episode, it feels like the producers don't have confidence in their concepts, and just pander to keep the young actresses and actors in swimwear to keep the targetted teen audience tuned in.

For now, I'll record it, but it'll be taking low priority in keeping up with it.

Mischa Barton and her make it a tough two hours to take in.

I mean it is what it is. Soap Opera/Eye Candy based on the Star Wars/Omen concepts.

By Star Wars, I mean how transparent are these writers? Let's see ... girl with an evil father and a good hearted mother. Who has special powers which can lead her to path of good or the path of evil. But the evil force is quite strong .... please. Christina = Luke and the story then becomes whether she is swung over to the "dark side." Please. Christine oops, Christ oops, I mean CHRISTINA, I AM YOUR FATHER ... noooooooo.

If rating falter how soon do you think they move in with the twin brother angle. :) Producer's conference with writers ... "she was our last hope " speakerbox ... "no there is another."

I also agree that the devil's advocate is so over-the-top that I view it as a self-parity.

What a piece of shit that was. I hacked my TiVo just so I could give it 5 thumbs down

Quatermass 01-21-05 09:57 AM

I didn't make it all the way through. I watched all of part 1, but 20 minutes into part 2 I just didn't care about any of the characters.

spainlinx0 01-21-05 12:02 PM

I have seen worse. I'm surprised everyone hated it so much. I thought it was what it was. Yeah it was a little cheesy, but nothing to get so angry about. I will keep watching just to see where the writers take it. It's not in my top-10 list, but I didn't rush to turn it off either.

LiquidSky 01-24-05 07:25 AM

I taped the pilot and first episode and just got around to watching them last night. What a cold pile of dog poo.

I made it about a half hour into the pilot, and thought the same. I guess it didn't get any better. :)

Zzzzzzzzzz

Giving it one more week, but so far it seems like a waste of time.

Aintitcoolnews says that tonights episode was penned by Tick creator Ben Edlund. He also wrote some of my favorite Firefly and Angel episodes (including the puppet episode) and his dialogue is usually very funny and entertaining which is what this show desperately needs. I wasn't thrilled with the first 2 episodes so far, but I think tonight's show has potential.

Flatlander 01-27-05 05:55 PM

Still not to sure on this one. I think this is the one that will make or break it for me. did the pilot and the latest show have the same writer(s)?

Patman 01-27-05 10:34 PM

Ben Edlund penned this episode, and I thought it was a better overall episode than the 2 previous episodes.

But, I think Edlund went a little overboard with the lighthouse light used as a metaphor to shine the light of truth to Ben in order to make him come to his senses before beating the crap out of the rich punk.

What the episode also did was lay some seeds of doubt about the "goodness" of Jesse considering he was fathered by a mystery man, and while his mom considers him to be a saint, perhaps it will be his dark side that gets revealed by Christina's presence and could trigger something latent from within him, while Christina struggles to find her way to the light, and Jesse goes towards the dark (one of those ying-yang tragic unrequited love situations as the season goes on).

rfduncan 01-28-05 09:36 AM

I know this show was co-created by Marti Noxon, but it clearly lacks the edginess that Joss Whedon's dialogue inspired on Buffy and Angel. While I'll continue to watch, this show is like Diet Carnivale-meets-Buffy-meets-Melrose Place/90210.
