I see hoopleheads, some of them don't even know they are hoopleheads.

They really are doing a good job of his character. While it is obvious that he is the real star, they never play him in that light. It's like they know naming him as the lead would be unwise, as once the cool supporting character becomes the official lead, he is no longer as cool.

Not only is Swearengen's character more intriguing than Bullock's, but I think McShane's got way more presence than Olyphant in each of their respective roles. Timothy plays Seth very 2 dimensional, whereas Ian's Al has many sides and they always seem to be present at all times. You never know what you're going to get. Swearengen is the reason I fell in love with Deadwood, and although it's a great show, I might not come back without him. Kinda be like The Wire with no Mcnulty or The Sopranos with no Tony. EEwwww.

Yeah, i'm pretty sure hooplehead is the deadwood version of dumbass.
rewatched it last night and was reminded of my favorite new euphemism courtesy of Cy:
"he was soaking his pecker in the c**t-brine of another."

I believe a hooplehead is what Red Dog today calls a 'carbon blob'

So Cy is going to be taking 60% of Joanie's profits? That defeats her whole purpose of not wanting Cy to help, and now he is pissed off about it.

I wonder if the day will come when Cy and Al have a major falling out? They don't seem to be enemies right now, but they also don't seem like the kind that trust one another too much either.

And actually, it was "Getting his cock pickled in the c**t brine of another."
The "pickling" is the part of the comment that makes the "brine" make sense.

Either that or it could set the stage for a Fistful of Dollars type setup. Let's get Eastwood in here!

That was fucking hysterical. Loved the fight too.

I remembered her from Jack & Jill and as the stigmata girl in that episode of Nip/tuck.
