I've really enjoyed all 3 episodes. Lorraine Brocco did a very good job in her role.

I really liked this new incarnation from the L&O universe - almost as much as SVU and much much more than the tedious CI

Third episode was better than the first two, but I'm still not digging it much. It just lacks the mystery and excitement that makes L&O and SVU so enjoyable for me. I'm leaving my season pass for the time being, but I"m not going out of my way to find time to watch it anymore.

I have as well. I knew something was up with her character when she told her client that their offer was Manslaughter 1 (?) with 20 years minimum, when it was at least 10.

I hope they nailed her to the wall.

Good ep.

Glad to see Scott Cohen in it. Wouldn't mind seeing him in it again.

This weeks episode was fantastic. Made me glad I didn't give up on it after not being impressed by the first 2.

I hope they keep getting better.

I've got to agree with you Josh. Last week's ep was great.

I like how they give semi-equal to the defense so that you can see how honest or ruthless they really are. I felt sorry for the chubby lawyer who got jerked around by his clients lies.

That's what makes it great, although I have to say I really like Bebe Neuwirth as ADA Kirbe.

L&O: Trial by Jury (3/25) "Baby Boom"

Episode 5: "Baby Boom"

Spoiler:
Kibre and Gaffney must prosecute a nanny accused of killing the baby she was caring for by causing shaken baby syndrome. The only problem is they receive a judge who favors the defense since he was a former legal aid attorney.

Was I the only one who wanted to hit Judge Patel?

This show keeps getting better week after week and I am enjoying it more and more. Bruce Davison was great at the Defense Attorney and I hope we see him again.

To Scott Cohen being addded to the credits. I've liked him since "The 10th Kingdom." He'll be a great addition to the show. By the way, he was in last week's episode and was added to the opening credits this week. However, he does have a new comedy series starting on NBC in the Summer called "The Men's Room" of which there were 6 episodes done. He is one of the three main characters, so we'll see how long he sticks around. I hope he's in for the long haul.

The reference to Briscoe's (Jerry Orbach's character) death was supposed to be mentioned in the 4th or 5th episode, but that hasn't been mentioned yet.

At least they finally added "For Jerry" at the end of the episode. So maybe it will be in the next episode.

Patel seemed to be all over the map. First it made him out to be the bad guy. Then after he talked with Murphy Brown, it seemed like he was starting to doubt his thoughts in some of his looks during the trial. Then, he came back worse than ever. I guess I read his self-doubt wrong.

I liked the episode. Not sure about Cohen yet though. Why was Alvarez wearing that dumbass hat all show? It irked me.

Still haven't seen last week's episode, but I am starting to like this series a lot.

patel was a joke. I can't see a judge not being kicked off the bench if he acted like that, especially since I doubt that was the only case he did shit like that on

besides, there would have been a presidential pardon before it ever got to trial

Thinking about it again, I think that Patel was starting to waive in his attitude towards the case, until Lillith went overboard with shaking the baby and hitting its head in front of the jury. That validated his whole thoughts as presented to Murphy Brown about using the emotions of mothers to win the case instead of facts.

This was my least favorite episode of the series so far, but the judge was entertaining. Hopefully, we haven't seen the last of him.

Law & Order: Trial by Jury, 4/8

Featuring
Spoiler:
the return of my favorite ADA from the original, Carey Lowell as JUDGE Jamie Ross.

Spoiler:
When a seemingly unstable man accused of murder asks to defend himself and exploits a claim of extreme emotional distress, Kibre (Bebe Neuwirth) and Gaffney (Amy Carlson) use their detective skills to counter his argument. Carey Lowell reprises her "Law & Order" mothership role of Jamie Ross, who's now a judge.

Yeah, the switchboard officer was played by John Scurti (Lou, the chubby firefighter who's the poet).

Nice to see Judge Patel (and all of his arrogance) trying to make Judge Ross feel like a loser.

... and it looks like next week's L&O and L&O:TBJ is a cross-over...

Spoiler:
... and will explain the absense of Jesse L. Martin's character for the rest of the season. He needed to leave so that they can start filming of the theatrical verseion of Rent. Martin will play the role of Tom Collins, the HIV+ computer guy. As has been said before, Michael Imperioli will take his spot until the start of the next season, when Martin will return.

Always great to see Carey in the Jamie Ross role. The only bad thing was that she have to do much playing a judge; her best scenes were with Arthur and that idiot judge from a previous episode.

Hopefully we'll see more of her on TBJ, but I would really like to see Jack McCoy argue a case before her on the flagship. That would be awesome.

Not a fan of the Jamie Ross character. Just too damn liberal. I would take Abbie Carmichael over her any day.

was it ever explained how jamie became a judge after the trouble she got into and almost lost her license to practice law in the original L&O?

Bit of a dull episode. It seems too flip flow week to week for me from boring to good. Loved the basketball player (Kobe knockoff) one last week.

Funny - I thought that one was kind of lame. They ripped from the headlines way too much on that one, and that is generally when the writing suffers.
