Is there a greater master of the pun than Popeye?

I watch this nightly with my boys. So tonight Popeye has to get some crows out of Olive's garden. They whip up on him and throw tomatoes at his face. He says, "Is my face red....wait till I catch up with you" Oh Popeye.

Knocked against a wall, a picture falls on his head, and he says, "I've been framed"

The man is a master of the pun.

There are just too many to post. He comes up with them so darn fast, and there are so many per episode, it only seems right that we make this thread sticky and we can all post about the greatest puns for each episode of Popeye each day.

Early (b&w) Popeye would have him muttering under his breath at a fever pitch.

Well Popeye can't hold a candle to Mr. Peabody, Aesop's son, & the narriator of Rock & Bullwinkle.

Oooooh, good call. He is good, but it sounds forced. Popeye is all natural.
