Do straight guys watch the OC?

If you do, why and give your reason.

I see it as 90210 all over again but for the new generation.

I always thought that show was gay and I can't believe Fox would do it all over again.

Such ignorance, how do I even address the?

I'm straight and I watch the OC.

It entertains me, I like some of the characters and even relate to them. These characters may be larger then life, but they still manage to face the same problems that I do. I laugh a lot when I watch this show. If that's gay, then I really need to get a new dictionary.

Oh, and plus this show has a bevy of hot chicks.

Sure. And I watched 90210. Eye candy is but one reason. Why wouldn't FOX want to do another 90210 (not that this is a carbon copy)? 90210 was a very successful show.

I watch it because this show successfully fills the niche left empty by 90210 and is damn good at it.

Not sure, but it wouldn't surprise me since he loved 90210 and he probably would identify with Seth.

I'm an avid fan.

The writing is wittier, and the girls are gorgeous. Olivia Wilde (Alex) is hands down the hottest chick on TV right now (and yes, I know Jennifer Garner is on TV).

If watching this show makes me gay, then fuck, pass the meat log my way.

It's great to see that you are living up to your "cool new member" status.

it is a soap opera and usually guys don't watch those type of shows even if the girls are hot.

I was about to say, they start this lesbian arc (which I'm not a big fan of myself) and you ask yourself if the majority of this show's fans are gay? Unless you're just trolling for responses, in which case, good job!

Ah, but put it in primetime, disguise it as a drama, and put it on once a week, and you'll fool many a man into watching it. Though I would think, like 90210, it would be mostly teens watching, especially with the music and the product placements and such.

It just doesn't have sci-fi elements in it, which are the calling card of most male "soap operas".

I love The O.C. These kind of dramas just appeal to me. I was a huge fan of most of the nighttime serials from the past i.e. Dallas, Knots Landing, Falcon Crest, 90210, Melrose Place. I used to love watching daytime dramas like AMC, OLTL, GH, the old Edge of Knight show, DAYS, etc.....I love listening to "POP" music i.e. Britney, Christina, BSB, NSYNC, etc. and I'm STR8. Oh, i love shopping too! Why do so many ignorant (generalized comment, not directed at anyone here) people have to label someone a certain way just because their tastes are a different from theirs? I've never understood that.

So I guess you are gay then? I mean, you watched 90210, plus you must have watched the OC at some point to make an opinion of it.

I haven't watched it since the first season, its not something I could watch every week, but as a huge comic book fan, I think the show is great & I have tons of respect for Heinberg the writer & Summer is reason enough for any hetero male to make it a priority to watch the show.

Plus I'm still young, younger then some of the actors on the show so the show isn't out of my demographic.

First of all, what sex are you? From the question I would assume male, but from your name, maybe otherwise.

Second, how old are you? That should inform the stupidity of this question and make it easier for people to be able to determine if your posts are relevant in the future.

Finally, "Queer As Folk" is gay. "Will and Grace" is gay. "The OC" is not gay. "90210" was not gay. This, of course, assumes that by "gay" you mean homosexual and not "dumb" or "stupid". So, I guess what you're trying to say here is that any male that watches a continuing storyline that may deal with relationships must only watch them because he's gay -- homosexual, as opposed to dumb or stupid.

BTW, I'm gay as a goose, watched "90210" and don't watch "The OC".

I watched All My Children when Sarah Michelle Gellar was on it. I don't watch The OC, but I did watch 90210 (and Melrose Place).

Speaking as a gay guy who's never watched "The OC" or "Queer As Folk" . . . . ahhh, nevermind -- SportsCenter is on!
