Warner Bros. apparently has a new "beyond" version of Looney Tunes under development, called Loonatics :

OK - the characters have changed often in the past, and they've had shows with alternate versions before, so it couldn't be too bad, could it?

This warranted a spot on the nightly news last night. They interviewed kids and asked what they thought of the new Bugs. They thought he looked evil. :lol: Not quite what WB was shooting for, I bet.

With an idea like this, why can't they just make it something original?

God forbid that Bugs Bunny look like an actual, you know, cartoon instead of a video game character. :grunt:

It may looked f-ed up, but so did The Batman when we saw the artwork first, and that series turned out to be pretty cool. I'll reserve judgement until I see it on TV.

Based on the animation, I'll give WB idea of a "slightly menacing-looking versions of the classic Looney Tunes characters " a :down:

I think the Buzz Bunny looks kind of cool, but not as an update to Bugs Bunny!

Also, I just did a search for 'Buzz Bunny' on Google. 90% of them are for sex toys. Apparently, 'Buzz Bunny' is the name of a popular clitoral stimulator. Way to go, WB!!!! :lol:

About this so-called "reimagining"...

It's not as bad as it appears at first glance. Many (ok, pretty much ALL) of the sources that reported this story yesterday, such as the Wall Street Journal, erroneously (and I suspect, purposefully, in order to stir up crap) reported that these "hip, edgy" new designs would be REPLACING our beloved Looney Tunes characters. Even Dan Rather got on the "replacement" bandwagon; further proving his emminent retirement needs to be hastened.

But these "replacement" stories are NOT true. If you read this article carefully, you'll see:

These are going to be NEW characters. It's not Bugs Bunny--it's "Buzz Bunny." These are new characters who live in the year 2772 and fight crime with their superpowers. It's no different than what Warner's did with "Batman Beyond" or "Baby Looney Tunes." Familiar, yet seperate characters. Whether it's a good or bad idea or whether it will be watchable is open for debate, but they will not, repeat NOT, replace the original characters we all know and love. So calm down. And don't get me wrong--I'm not defending this idea--like most people I also think it's execrable. 5 years from now people will still be watching the original Looney Tunes and this "Loonatics" show will be nothing more than a trivia question only Ken Jennings can answer.

That statement is worthy of being in someone's signature...

I'm tired of this slacker animation style. All the sharp edges and lines probably save a lot of time on the old animation table -- and the excuse is that it's 'hip' and 'updated' It seems like the trend started when Cartoon Network began to air its own new shows. A need to quickly churn out hours of animation plus the help of flash and other computer aids has shifted the look of cartoons to what you now see.

On the news they kept hyping up the segment with "Warner updates Bugs Bunny for the new millenium" or something to that effect. I figured it would be the 3D route disney is going.

They all look alike. Except the fat one. He looks fat.

Looney Toons are timeless classics. Kids of any generation can enjoy watching them. Why do they feel a need to reinvent the show by creating different, yet similar, characters?

I just looks like a really bad animation project. I bet Mel Blanc and others would turn over in their graves.

This is the crappiest idea I think I've ever seen. It just looks so stupid.
