Annyong means "hello". The kid in Arrested Development's name wasn't Annyong, they just called him that since he said it all the time.

Good episode, but its getting hard to follow everything with all the fucking 2 weeks pauses. Why is ABC giving one of their hit shows the Fox treatment?

I cant wait to see next week's episode, it should be interesting in terms of what'll happen now since Charley has apparently used a gun before and remember how they work pretty well.

Spoiler:
OK, after tonight's episode. Fucking Charlie better fucking die this season!

Oh, because the Bluths are too self-involved to learn the difference means that this couldn't have been a reference to it? I agree that the paper company in Slough was too specific not to be about The Office. It just seems to me that whoever wrote that Wernham Hogg bit could easily be a fan of AD enough to take advantage of the greeting. Either way, I took it as meaning that even before the Slough comment. The 2nd only reaffirmed the first in my mind. I'm keeping it even if no one else wants to :)

Gil Jawetz 02-09-05 08:10 PM

Damn, that was good.

Snowmaker 02-09-05 08:11 PM

Now we may never know how Ethan got those scratches on his face.

Don't know if this needs spoilerizing now, but just to be safe:
Spoiler:
My exact words when it happened were "No! Damnit you freakin' Hobbit! Why'd you have to go do that?!?

I actually came to the thread to see if anyone caught the "The Office" reference, guess I'm not alone.

With that knowledge...

Look.

...

Monkey. :eyebrow:

...

Right, I did that. Moving on.

maybe he can get his job back!!

Amazing how David Brent can hijack this Lost thread. You just can't help but watching him

This episode of Lost was pretty good. While something tangible actually happened, all it does is put off answers. At least there's 3 more episodes before the next break.

Next week's preview...
Spoiler:
...seemed to imply that Sawyer was staring down Jack with the gun, but I'm sure he's after Sayid. I hate how they always try to mislead us. Just once I wish a preview would trick me by showing me something real.

My idiot ABC affiliate kept scrolling an ad for a Lost sweepstakes during the episode so I couldn't read any of the conversation the Korean couple had while she was cleaning his wound. Could anyone summarize if I missed anything, please?

Ranger 02-09-05 10:30 PM

How did Ethan do that whooshing thing? Is he riding around the jungle on his broomstick or what?

Charlie's girlfriend in the flashbacks is pretty cute. What is her name?

Basically, the husband was asking the wife if she knew what was happening, and she kept saying she didn't know. Nothing much else was said, but I sort of got the idea from his questions that he might have begun to suspect that she knows more than she's letting on.

Charlie Goose 02-09-05 10:43 PM

Gotta love network promos.

TONIGHT SOMEONE WILL DIE!!

You've only seen him for one second at a time for a total of three seconds, but still........

Eh, they should've just kneecapped Ethan. That would've slowed him down.

Beginning to think that Hurley will never get a back story. :(

Patman 02-09-05 10:46 PM

I was more interested in that ominous conversation between Jin and Sun.

The rest of the episode wasn't all that great.

Ethan had a slingshot. I was yelling..."get down, get down!"

B.A. 02-09-05 11:19 PM

I liked the "paper company in Slough" reference.

I didn't think they would break out the guns so soon.

The Korean couple intriques me.

So now that Ethan is gone, can Locke/Boone go back to meditating over the steel door? ;)

I was just happy to have a new ep back.

Big Boy Laroux 02-09-05 11:22 PM

man, i was as pissed at Charlie (if not more) as the characters on the show were. now we'll never get answers!

and i think it's too much of a coincidence that charlie saying "hello" in korean is a reference to AD.

and how in the hell did jack and ethan fight for so long? where was everyone else? what took them so long, and why didn't they jump in to help jack? bizarre.

the key part of the korean couple's dialog is when Jin asked Sun if the baby was ok. Sun had just heard jack say that the baby was fine. but she tells him "I'm sure it is ok" after pausing a bit to think. If she had said "the baby is fine" he would want to know how in the hell she knew that.

They were standing around watching as Jack went ultra-violent on his ass - if Jack needed any help subduing him I'm sure they would have jumped right in.

There was a while there where Jack was getting beat down. I thought one of them would fire a warning shot into the air to freeze Ethan up. But I thought it took them too long to get there, or else they made it appear that everyone was closer to Claire than they actually were.

Keith123 02-09-05 11:32 PM

This is quick notice, but "Jimmy Kimmel Live" on ABC in a few minutes in the Eastern Time Zone (12:36 am 02/10/05) will have Jimmy on the Lost Island visiting the cast. I don't know if this will be a quickie or a long segment...

That is what I am saying.......this show cannot be playing to pop culture like that, can it?

Yeah, that's exactly what I told my girlfriend while we were watching this; that they ought to blow out one of his kneecaps. Easier said than done, though since it's night and he's a moving target. Locke could probably pull it off, though. :)

And about Hurley, keep watching... first week of March, I think.

Yeah, I agree. I'm pretty sure it isn't a reference. The Office reference works because it is both really obvious, and because JJ Abrahms has a good working relationship with Ricky Gervais in real life (has had him guest on Alias and reportedly wants him aboard Mission Impossible 3 in some capacity).

cornflakeguy 02-10-05 12:20 AM

Charlie mildly annoyed me at first.

Now he freaking pisses me off after that dumbass display.

And, usually when something like that happens doesn't the girl involved, being Claire, usually turn on the guy as if she loathes violence and start up with the "that didn't solve anything" attitude??

Here, Claire embraced it. Kinda spooky in it's own right.

Sawyer is starting to bore me. His backstory is interesting, but the show is LOST, not SAWYERS BACKSTORY.

Didn't Locke look cool with that pistol cocked over his shoulder giving his "now I have a gun" smirk? Locke is such a bad ass, and he is going to be SO EVIL!

And yeah, I though Charlies girl mark was cute. I like 'em thick.

kind of a boring episode tonight. it sucked how they were saying someone will die. Then the person who dies is one that never had any screen time. The bad thing about lost is barely anything ever happens.Only at the last few minutes does something seem to happen.
