I think both of the posts on 24 are a little over the top. The bottom line on that show is it's great if you can throw all logic out the window and just go with it. Many people can do that and love the show but many people can't. The people that seriously analyze a plot and hate plot holes hate the show. 24 is the very definition of a love-it-or-hate-it show. The people who love it, love it with a passion. The people who hate it, likewise (as evidenced in this thread). What's funny is that many people who seem to hate it, watch it religiously
Having said all that I think 24 is neither overrated nor underrated. It is a popular show that is no worse (or no better for that matter) than many other popular shows.
My $.02

I have no problem with people enjoying any show, but if you're going to try to tell me 24 is a great show, then there's something wrong with you. The plot hole type stuff is definitely not the reason I don't like 24. The dialogue is seriously some of the worst dialogue I've heard in years. That's also partially because the directing and acting is so incredibly bad too. I will say I do like the look of the show and the creators of the show can often create suspense. But all that suspense is ruined as soon as the actors open their mouth. I haven't been able to make it through a single episode this season. 24 is without a doubt the worst show I've seen in the past couple years. Matter of fact, I can't even think of another show in the past couple years that I quit watching besides 24.
Let me add a little more to the overrated argument. It's been nominated numerous times for multiple awards. Every year, the whole season is rerun on FX. Every year the complete season is released on a well marketed dvd set. These are not the signs of an underrated show.

^ Its only rerun once on FX, as a 24 hour marathon...thats all.
I cant believe in just over 2 pages in this thread and I havent seen this show mentioned (might have missed it though): HUFF. Great characters, great acting (Oliver Platt, wow). Cant wait until Season 2 begins.

Apparently his argument is that while the show is popular, it should be even more popular. In fact, he says it's underrated because it should be the top drama on TV. On the other hand, nny says it is one of the worst.
All I was saying is that it is probably about where it should be. Its an original show that is very entertaining (IMO) but it has too many flaws to be the top show in its class. It certainly isn't bad though. The worst shows on TV are boring. 24 is anything but boring. I actually love the show myself but I can certainly see why some don't.
