Joey - 2/3/05

I thought this was another pretty funny episode. They managed to get out of the apartment for a majority of the time and had some great moments.

Highlights for me were Alex's arrival on the motorcyle - "I can't believe I found you guys! I lost a shoe!" and Gina's dillemma with the car guys - "Should I follow my heart or go with the safe one?" "You've been gone TEN MINUTES!"

And of course, Judoman

One of the few sitcoms I actually get to watch in 5.1 HD. It wasn't broadcasted that way by my affiliate last night.

Pretty good, I think Gina was the best part. The agent (why can I never remember her name?) tasering herself a couple times was pretty stupid.

Bobbie is the agent's name.

Overall, pretty funny. I don't know how Michael can handle having a mom with a strong libido.

First time I watched this in a couple of months - glad to see that they were out of the apartment. Not too bad either. Judoman was pretty funny, particularly the guy in the back "watching dvds" and the thirty minutes of stretching.

Re: Judoman

Gina: "What's the matter, are you scared? Are you a little baby?"
Michael: "You're the greatest mom EVER."

Another solid episode. Has "Joey" finally hit its stride?

I thought it started pretty slow, but it more than made up for it with Alex's two scenes. Besides that, Judoman was pretty hilarious.

Yeah, what was up with that? My GF and I were watching the HD version and couldn't hear a single word of dialogue once they were outside in the car. Turning it up to "80" on my TV just to hear what they were saying resulted in the "bumper music" and laugh track being loud enough to rattle the windows, scare the cat and make the neighbor beat on the wall!

We switched over to the SD version and all was well. This was on a Sony Grand Wega (no external speakers) using HDMI and all "stereo settings" turned to "off" in the Wega's options.

I noticed the same thing. Were you getting the signal via digital cable (Comcast)?

This episode had a few laughs, but so I'm the only one that thought the Judo Man thing was stupid?

I kept waiting for Drea to ask the first car guy if he was from Jersey.

I thought it was pretty funny.

Liked the opening with Joey complaining about having to carry the little girl.

Alex on the moped

I was rather impressed by this episode. There were moments when it reminded me of Seinfeld, when they were stuck on the freeway and problems just kept piling up. It had that wonderful what-else-could-possibly-go-wrong feeling, combined with the running-out-of-time factor and a static, claustrophobic setting. If they can keep up writing as good as this, Joey will (should?) last.

Good episode. Alex pulling up on the moped had me cracking up. Also, the bit after the credits was good too.

"How long DID you hug him for?"
"Oh, it goes on for a while. See there, how he's shaking his head?"
"Is that where you call him 'Johnny'?"
"Yes it is"

Loosely quoted.
