Dawson Creek vs The O.C. (Orange County)
Hi
I have the chance of acquiring (exchange), one of these series (of which I never saw an episode), for that I ask:
Are they exclusively for a teen audience?
Being of identical themes, which are the main differences, if they exist, among them?
If you had to choose one of them , which would you choose and why ?
Rate each one, please (up to 10)
Thanks in advance

Rachel Bilson > Katie Holmes
Adam Brody > James Van Der Beek
Mischa Barton < Michelle Williams
Benjamin McKenzie = Joshua Jackson
The Cohen's > The Leery's
The O.C. fighting > The Creek fighting
If it wasn't for the Oliver storyline and Mischa Barton in general, The O.C. would get a 9/10, but since we can't ignore those horrendous mistakes it gets an 8.
Dawson's teeters between a 5 and a 6.

I love them both for different reasons - The O.C. is a lot more fun - it's like Dynasty with teens. Dawson's Creek is a lot more angst-ridden...and while still soap-opera-ish, it is basically a drama with a more serious tone (despite some of the silly stuff that happens). You canNOT take the O.C. seriously - it is just fluff - and hilarious at that. Which should you get? Depends on the type of show you feel like watching (and no, I don't think the appeal is only to teens - there's something in it for every age).

The OC tends to have storylines for both the teen and adult characters. I dont remember this being the case on Dawson's Creek.
If I had to pick, I would choose OC because it has more of a sense of humor.

Watched the first 5 or so eps of Dawson's Creek - couldn't stand it. The O.C. has far more wide-ranging appeal.
I would compare The O.C. more to 90210 than DC. However, even that isn't a fair comparison. I think that, as a show, The O.C. is a caricature of life. In other words, it doesn't take itself seriously.

One major difference is that The O.C. is a lot funnier than Dawson's Creek was. I think the characters on the O.C. are more appealing than the ones on DC. I would give The O.C. about an 8 and a half, DC maybe a 6.
