Spoiler:
So if Sandy is helping an old girlfriend, what are the chances that the kid is his? Didn't see the preview for this so for all I know, it is a guy that he is helping.

movieking 01-27-05 09:34 AM

Spoiler:
Just noticed it does say "his" daughter in the preview, meaning Sandy's friend is male, so chances are that he is not the real father...

Patman 01-27-05 08:28 PM

Geez, that bit of speculation is funny in light of what happened (which was already in the rumor pipeline given Kim Delaney's guest appearance arc this season).

Loved the reference to "Summer Lovers" an old Peter Gallagher film, and also Summer's "Cavalier and Gay".

Overall, the comic book stuff was cool with me, a comic fan, especially the way Seth's feelings for Summer just oozed out of those character sketches of Summer as a super-heroine. The characters names were pretty funny as well. Kid Chino. :)

We are really heading towards Marissa's first big gay experiment with Alex, who continues to look amazing on this show. Marissa was almost funny in dissing Caleb, but the bad acting by Mischa just never quite elevates the material.

I really liked this ep. The Summer/Seth scenes were very reminiscent of Season One. I pretty much enjoyed the entire comic book storyline.

The understatement of the year.

;)

spinning plates 01-28-05 02:33 AM

eh, things are getting kind of predictable... but the preview for next week looks pretty good :)

Geofferson 01-28-05 08:44 AM

I caught the "Summer Lovers" reference, but had to go on IMDb after the show was over to make sure that was indeed the name of the movie. I too liked the comic book storyline.

pdutta2000 01-28-05 09:11 AM

Good episode. It's obvious that the whole Seth/Summer thing is gonna come right back. It's too bad cause I kinda like the Zach character and you know he's gonna leave ala Luke.

Doughboy 01-28-05 09:59 AM

They seem to enjoy referencing movies that featured the show's cast members. Besides Summer Lovers, I think they've also mentioned The Sixth Sense and The Ring. Now all we need are Spawn and Love Potion No. 9 which featured Marissa's mom and dad respectively. ;)

El Scorcho 01-28-05 12:05 PM

I must admit that I watch this show now just to wait and see Alex and Marissa ravage each other in a fury of lesbian love.

Alex just might be the hottest chick on TV right now.

I was hoping for a threesome last night.

Have they ever mentioned CSI?

Marissa's mom and Seth's mom were in the same episode back in the early days of CSI.

Not even the promise of Marissa's journey towards lesbianism can make me like her character! I hope this girl doesnt stay on the show much longer.

kenage 01-28-05 02:59 PM

I really liked the episode as a whole, but every time I see Marissa on the screen I want to change the channel.

Anyone else think that FOX is just going to keep stringing this plotline along without actually doing anything? I just don't see them allowing more than a hug to take place between these girls.

Seth telling Ryan that Caleb asked his mother if he was slightly retarded was hilarious

Alex:drool:

there was about one minute of that episode where I didn't feel that way - she did look awful good in that bra - but the moment passed quickly.

movieking 01-28-05 07:18 PM

I totally forgot about Kim Delaney. Had I remembered, it would have been extremely easy to predict.

Loved Seth's line about Caleb asking his mother if he was mildly retarded.

thats why you should get tivo. you can fast forward over the bad parts -wink-

Patman 01-29-05 04:04 AM

Or slow-mo through the good parts...

Original Desmond 01-29-05 06:56 AM

Alex is hotter than hell!

Boy she looked good in those short shorts

Marissa looked ok in her bra, if she shut her mouth, i'd put her away

movieking 01-29-05 10:06 AM

I cannot see how anyone finds Marissa/Mischa attractive. She is a sullen faced waif with no acting skills.

spinning plates 01-29-05 01:24 PM

they need to bring back anna already :grunt:

Patman 01-29-05 01:48 PM

Anna's not coming back (at least in the foreseeable future).

chowderhead 01-29-05 06:55 PM

the thing that bugged me the most besides the acting of Mischa Barton was the plot device used by the producers. Ryan was late to the dinner with his aunt and Caleb. due to "traffic." This was probably to allow Linsey and Caleb to talk a bit before Ryan's entrance. Caleb sees Ryan, realizes what happened, and stormed off. Then Linsey drives Ryan back home and talk/kiss.
So what happened to Ryan's SUV?

There were some good moments with this episode but it doesn't compare to the first season (minus Oliver).

Anybody notice that Alex, Marisa, and Jodie were each playing Interpol at their homes? I think it was the same song. When I saw Marisa was playing the same song as Alex, I figured they were just showing how Marisa was trying to be like Alex, but when they showed Jodie playing it, I thought there might be more meaning to it. I couldn't get much out of the lyrics, but I wonder if the title of the song, Evil, could have any relevance.

Dalvin 02-01-05 06:31 PM

I too liked Anna, and thought she would have been great to bring back. I also would like to see her end up with Seth, to throw a curve ball. PLus, I find Samarie Armstrong light years sexier than Rachel Bilson

The OC always tries to pimp the band of the week really hard.

Not really. They play songs from several different bands in every episode and most of them are bands I haven't heard of. Whenever I look at the music credits for the episodes, I'm always surprised how many songs they play.

I've seen interviews and she said she doesnt want to come back and doesn't watch either. She said something to the effect that it's like watching your friends at school and you arent included.
I Believe she is on that new show Entourage anyway.
I myself would like to see Luke come back.

You might be to be able to make that argument if you are talking Entourage Samarie (I still wouldn't), but not O.C. Samarie - she needs to know when to say 'when' to the makeup person. ;)

That's what I was wondering about too. I thought it was mighty weird they used that as an excuse but his SUV was nowhere in sight.

I would definitely like it if Seth and Summer got back together, but I too like Zach's character and wouldn't want to see him leave. It would be nice if Luke came back, I kind of expected him too since he was in the first episode the new season.
