Oh, I totally agree. At first I was wondering why in the world he was singing lion king but he did really well. A lot better then some of the people they passed.

I hated Gene Simmons. He's great and all but totally not for this. Half his comments didn't make any sense. He told the preacher guy that this isn't for him because they all sing about sex and demons. What? Has he not heard Clay or Ruben? Ruben's latest CD is apparently all gospel songs. He is so off his rocker.

Actually I haven't really liked the guest judges. It upsets the balance and creates ties and they have been worthless thus far. Mark McGrath was just Randy's puppy dog, saying whatever he would say.

I think what hurt him was when he broke out of the song to do a British-accented monologue ... that and the fact they thought he had a music theater sound.

I agree I thought Lion King guy should have gone on. I hope he comes back at another location & tries again.

I'm glad one of the twins made it through. I thought Gene robbed them.

Round four of the "American Idol" auditions brought in a 15.1/23 for FOX at 8 p.m. A rerun of "Lost" managed a respectable 7.8/12 for ABC, beating "60 Minutes," 6.5/10, on CBS. NBC's "SI Swimsuit Model Search" continued to founder, coming in at 3.3/5. "Smallville" was fifth for The WB, beating UPN's "Road to Stardom."

An entire culture of blathering, incomprehensible idiots? :whofart:

I had no idea...

Of course, everything I know about Nawlins I learned on Live and Let Die and GGW videos.

I'm just stunned by how stubborn those really talentless people are. "All my friends say I got a GREAT voice!" or "I'll be back next year, you'll see!" -ohbfrank-

Most of us sing WAY better than them in the shower or while vaccuming but we have enough sense to know our limits. Some things are just fishy, like Leroy, they showed him from the moment he got out of the car, so they knew before he showed up that he was gonna make an ass out of himself?

That wasn't funny. That personal attack was unnecessary.

Simon, Paula, and Randy are Round 2.

"You just killed two careers today!" - Kenny Loggins rotfl at the Psychic lady.

"She was sitting in chair number 10 that's all it was." - Her Mom(?) -eek-

Segment followed by a very unflattering worm's eye view of her leaving the building. :yack:

Patman 01-27-05 05:57 PM

Okay, finally saw the Vegas showgirl, and can't say I'm all that impressed with her voice, and her looks are cute, not amazing, plus she's got a weird thing going on with her teeth, like there's too many of them for her mouth.

Thanks for the clarification. But, but HOW did Leroy make it past round 1??

Purely for entertainment I guess...

The bad thing was that Lion King guy did something really original and did it well, yet was penalized for his originality. They say they want originality but they really don't...

On the twins, I would agree if they hadn't made such a$$es of themselves after they lost the first time. I agree they were robbed the first time though. I just didn't like the attitude.

On Leroy, I too thought he was trying to do the William Hung thing. That or he is the biggest idiot I have ever seen on TV. I think they did a pretty good job of presenting him with the subtitles and all. Funny stuff!!

Leroy made the cut because only the very best and the very worst make the cut in the auditions. Remember this is entertainment - not a competition (at least in the audition phase).

According to WPMI NBC Channel 14 in Mobile, Mr. Wells will not be appearing in the next go round regardless.

<img src="http://cctvimedia.clearchannel.com/wpmi/leroy%20wells%20mugshot.jpg" align="left" width=105 height=105 hspace=5 vspace=5>(MOBILE, Ala.) January 26 -- An American Idol hopeful, gaining notoriety, but not just for his shot at stardom. T-V viewers found Grand Bay's Leroy Wells on national T-V Tuesday night. However, on Wednesday, the would-be “idol” could be found in Mobile Metro Jail.

While millions of American Idol fans kept it locked into Leroy, Leroy was locked up behind bars for failing to appear in court.

The 22-year-old Grand Bay, Alabama native wowed fans with his rendition of "Got Your Money" by O-D-B. Even though he wasn't able to watch his performance from home, sheriff’s deputies tell NBC 15 they did allow Leroy and other inmates to watch American Idol from jail.

Mobile Police spokesman Marcus Young says Leroy Wells was arrested earlier this month for reportedly shooting a hand gun into an occupied vehicle. “Apparently they were arguing over how the cars were in the roadway at which time Mr. Wells allegedly shot the victim in his hip,” Young says.

See, the thing is, they only want the illusion of originality.

All that the entertainment industry -- and to a large extent, the general audience -- wants is the same old thing presented in a way that makes it appear original.

Well I think their attitudes afterward were partly justifiable. It seems that the producers asked them to go in together (from the side comments they made in front of the panel - not to mention that twins/triplets auditioning together are a spectacle they LOVE to exploit on the show). The way the were then summarily split up by the judges and coerced into accepting individual criticism and both STILL were shot down was just cruel and unusual IMO. I agreed with Paula Abdul on that note - it just prolonged the rejection process for no reason except for Simon to get additional nasty, biting comments in to shred the guys more.

I'm glad at least one ultimately made it through.

Paula is inconsistent. She voted no to both of them (together and individually) the first time even though she claimed that one of them was talented.

What happens in the event of a tie? I have yet to see one.

2-2 isn't good enough. It has to be 3-1 or 4-0.

There was a tie with the twin the first time he auditioned.

Randy & Paula = Yes
Gene & Simon = No

Result was that he didn't get to go onto Hollywood. When he auditioned solo, Kenny Loggins voted yes so he passed.

Mad Dawg 01-28-05 12:48 PM

On another note, I had no idea Fez was such a great singer.

If we are talking about the same twins, I was pretty sure she voted no to both individually.

Patman 01-28-05 05:52 PM

I thought Paula voted no to the first brother, and yes to the second brother, but Simon still voted no to both and nuked both of them, so Simon got Paula to make a choice between the 2 brothers.

Ding, Ding!! We have a correct answer!!!

People thought Simon was just being a jerk but he really just wanted to know which twin Paula thought was good.

...and as far as their attitude, I don't think anyone who goes on this show should expect to be treated "nice" by Simon. To go off spouting a bunch of expletives on national TV makes them the jerks. Simon was just being Simon.
