Was that the same guy helping Gob w/ the chair as from when he was trying to get into Poof Magazine? That had me dying

Deftones 01-17-05 09:12 PM

Best Andy Richter cameo ever!

spartanstew 01-17-05 10:41 PM

Thought the episode was extremely funny. Maybe it's because I haven't seen one in awhile, so I forgot what a good comedy was like, but this one had me cracking up more than usual.

Another home run for the AD crew -- I haven't been this enveloped in a show since the Simpsons heydey (starting with seasons 3 and 4).

Between that and the kiss, I was rolling. I'm not a laugh out loud person, but both of those got me.

I also thought it was one of the better ones of the season.

"It could be worse, he could want to marry his mother. Oh, are we still not lauging about that yet?"

I read Julia Louis Dreyfuss is set to return for a couple more eps. this season.

pezboy 01-18-05 11:47 AM

LOVED when they took away Buster's beret and gun and gave him the top hat and cane. Brilliant.

I also love the emotional swelling music during the brother/brother and father/son scenes.

Bronkster 01-18-05 02:30 PM

I watched it again last night. As Pezboy mentioned, the music cues were great in how they start, then stop so suddenly. I also love the complete lack of continuity in this show - Buster is in the Army one week, and he's really not the next, but then really in again. And GOB being dropped from a crane, but not hurt in the next episode. COME ON!

Pop quiz hot shot:

Who did Jason Bateman suggest for the role of this girlfriend?

Justine?

Big Boy Laroux 01-18-05 05:05 PM

i believe that's right. I remember reading that somewhere.

movieking 01-18-05 05:37 PM

Justine is the correct answer. Not really a hard one, since that would be the only person that I would have thought.

"I just saw Dad. I think one of the side effects of Teamocil must be halucinations."

"Hallucinations were not, in fact, a side effect of Teamocil."

Michael Corvin 01-20-05 08:10 AM

^^ Wasn't the response much more brief? That is why I found it funny...

"it isn't."

You're right. It was the quick response that made the joke.

Achtung 01-20-05 09:29 AM

Yeah I think as great as the actors and their characters are, as much of the humor comes from Ron Howard's commentary. It's always well-timed and just the right amount.

Agreed. Anybody who doubts this need only watch the deleted scenes on the Season 1 DVD, where random crew members sub for Ron on the narration. It just isn't the same. :(

Draven 01-20-05 10:56 AM

Once again, the blue paint smears had me chuckling. And the refrigerator falling into the garage.

According to the Season 1 DVDs, I believe they said that when the frame fell off the wall in the finale (?) that the speaker getting knocked down was a mistake. Seeing they duplicated the exact same thing again had me rolling.

I also liked when they cut to the "5-seconds earlier" with George Sr. that something fell on him too. The shitty house construction jokes get a laugh out of me every time.

Birrman54 01-20-05 11:10 AM

Was Teamocil spelled differently in Season 1? I remember that there's an I in Teamocil (but not where you'd think)

I thought it was spelled "Teamocil" in this episode.

I COMPLETELY missed that joke.

Once again, AD presented television perfection...in my opinion.

-"Gob's own father had only once played catch with him...and it ended as badly as any game of catch, could end."
-"WHITE POWER!!!"

the chicken dance from the Mexico episode! gotta love it.

has ANYONE figured out what the numbers on the wall in that episode a few weeks back meant?

 I loved this episode.

This show has definitely spoiled me from Scrubs. Since the last time a new Scrubs was actually on (early Dec.), I bought and watched the entire first season of AD. This show is golden. Don't get me wrong, Scrubs is still a great show but AD is just phenominal.

Even the members of Gobias agreed on that one.

I'm intrigued. What numbers? What wall?

The scene in some Central American country where George Sr sees the news article about Lucille and Oscar. He does the sad Charlie Brown walk, and on the wall in the background is a letter/number sequence (I think it was something like P225)

Here are two more of my favorite lines:
