Good blind buys on Amazon's new Fox tvdvd deal?

With this new deal I was thinking about a few of these.

Such as Buffy, Angel, The Shield, NYPD.
Having never watched any of them, would they be good blind buys?
I already have 25, Futurama, and Bernie Mac.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer - The Complete First Season
Angel - Season One
24 - Season One
Dark Angel - The Complete First Season
Futurama, Vol. 1
The Bernie Mac Show - Season 1
Lost in Space - The Complete First Season
The X-Files - The Complete First Season
The Shield - The Complete First Season
The Mary Tyler Moore Show - The Complete First Season
NYPD Blue - Season
Son of the Beach Volume 1

It really depends if you have any plans to continue with some of these series (the dramatic ones anyway). Although Buffy S1 is pretty much a complete story since there was a lot of uncertainty whether or not it would return for a second season, other series would benefit if you followed them on to their later seasons (like The Shield).

The comedies, like Bernie Mac and Futurama, would be fine by themselves as just a single season pickup.

I'd pickup the Shield

I think their's some question whether or not they are going to release all of the NYPD Blue seasons so you may want to keep that in mind.

Actually, I don't really think there's a bad "blind buy" on that list...all of those shows have merit, in one form or another.

A little over a year ago I got Buffy Season 1 at a pawn shop for $10.00, my plan was to sell it on ebay for a small profit, if you are like me you're thinking "Buffy the Vampire Slayer with Sarah Michelle Gellar?? Give me a break." Anyway, I started watching the first episode and I was hooked, in the past couple years I've watched all 7 seasons on DVD. Yes, Buffy really is that good. Give it a chance.

Lost In Space might be a good buy if you like old sci fi like the original Star Trek, Space 1999 and old Doctor Who. The first season was in B&W and more serious, not as silly as the color Lost In Space episodes.

I've never been a big X-Files fan, but it's a good show, worth picking up for cheap.

I'm thinking of blind buying Dark Angel, anyone like this show or suggest it?

Yeah, I can agree with that for the most part. The only one to avoid probably is Dark Angel. I didn't think the first season was very good in the first place, but even if you do like it for some reason, the second season is downright terrible, and the show goes nowhere before it gets cancelled. I can't see any reason to buy it unless you're already a diehard fan or something.

I bought it, at the high price. Enjoyed it and ebayed it before the price drop. I wouldn't mind watching it again, but not for a few years, so no reason to have it sitting on my shelf.

I enjoyed the first season, but not even Jessica Alba could make the 2nd season watchable.

Agreed.

I'm thinking about picking up The Shield. Most everyone on here has recommended it for the last couple of years, and now my sister and her husband started Tivoing the repeats over the last few months - and they won't shut up about it either.

I think if anything, NYPD: Blue season one pretty much stands on its own if you don't plan on buying other seasons. It was pretty much a reboot in season 2 after Caruso jumped ship. I don't recall any major plotlines that carried over since all the big ones dealt with Caruso's character. Unless you count Andy being an alcoholic, but that is more or less just standard character development.

On top of that, I have been a big fan (during its original run since about season 3-4). I was amazed how great Caruso's character was written after watching season 1 on dvd. He did a great job at it as well.

I've been cosidering picking up "Dark Angel" (Season 1, at least). The premise sounds moderately interesting and Jessical Alba is a fine little piece of ass... might be worthwhile for $13.50.

I highly recommend Dark Angel Season 1. It is action packed, good sci-fi on many levels. Season Two wan't as good, but am getting ready to watch it now.

Also, recommend The Shield, it is probably the best show on television. Very raw.

24 is one of the greatest shows ever made for televsion. Whomever is the casting director deserves a big pat on the back. Never in my whole time of watching a TV show have I become so transfixed and felt like I am actually there with the characters. As long as they don't kill off Jack, Tony or Michelle then I'll be cool with what they bring me. I also hope when 24 has run its cource(certainly not yet) that it ends via a writer's decision and not a network one.
I would also go with "The Shield", I like Micheal Chikulus but nobody is as badass and cool as Keifer playing jack Bauer. Watch the show and you'll agree.

If you were to pick 1 or 2, I'd recommend The Shield or MTM.

I bought Dark Angel, Futurama, Millenium and Roswell in these sales (already watched 24, Buffy, Angel and The Shield--all recommended). I'm surprised people hated Dark Angel, since I enjoyed it (no Buffy, but still entertaining). I'm even sorrier to hear season 2 sucked since I bought it on half.com a couple days ago.

Millenium was okay, but I'm quitting after 7 eps or so--not a bad show, but it hasn't captured my interest.

Roswell is unwatchable in my opinion.
