robert's voice from everybody loves raymond

anyone ever heard him speak outside of ELR, like on a talk show or something? doesn't he sound really different or is it my imagination?

I think he just uses his Robert voice for the show. He does sound different in interviews. For the first season, it seemed like he used a more normal sounding voice but then he started changing it because people seemed to find his current voice funnier.

I don't know. I've heard him drop the Robert voice while watching him on old Match Game (90s version) reruns on Game Show Network. He did it in a New Year's (Fiesta?) parade from a few years ago too.

Brad Garrett has done tones of "Voice over work" in the past including the voice of "Lobo" on the Justice League and Superman cartoons.

IIRC, he's also well known for his celebrity impersanations.

And he played a kidnapper in Suicide Kings. Slightly different voice.

Sometimes voice over people and impersonators forget their real voices. I heard Rich Little say somethign to that affect many years ago.
