Arrested Development 12/19
"Afternoon Delight"
Spoiler:
|
Preview looks hilarious.
|
reposting this from the other thread since it seems no one will view it:
http://www.the-op.com/view/article.php?a=108&pg=5 The following scene, excised from Sad Sack, would have made 24 fans happy. When the photo of the alleged WMDs made the rounds of government, there was to have been a quick shot of Tony Almeda and Jack Bauer with the narration, “They even made it to some units that didn’t need to be in the know.” I’d guess this was cut because it seems a bit forced, because otherwise a 24 cross-promotion seems like a no-brainer to FOX, which broadcasts both 24 and Arrested, and Imagine, which produces both. |
"Well that's the worst thing I've ever heard."
"And I had to drive, she had a little buzz on." "No, that's it." And Buster getting $100 in quarters! |
"First I'll blow him then I'll poke him"
Not a bad line, but a tad clumsy. I liked the line about George Sr being in the kitty. |
rotfl @ the sexual harassment speech rotfl
|
Gob is quickly becoming the greatest character ever on TV.
|
LMAO @ the cutoffs after the towel fell off of Tobias.
|
Gob rocks indeed.
|
omg rotfl
|
Great version of Afternoon Delight. Funny stuff!
|
"*BEEP* you Tom!"
My God, the way he said that just killed me! |
"The guy dirty dancing with his niece...."
Makes sense that Afternoon Delight was the first song, since Michael told Maebe to start at the beginning of the songs. |
"If I don't fire them, then how do I teach a lesson to the others?"
"There are no others, you fired them all." "I came in last night and there was a colored man in my kitchen." "Color, what color?" "Blue!" This episode is running on all cylinders. |
OH GAWD rotfl
"Maybee... I'll put it in her brownie" |
"Maybe I'll put it in her brownie"
"I got blown so I can't sleep" So many great lines... |
Lucille is the world's worst driver, after all.
|
"That's my wife and my nephew...we have an open relationship!"
|
What a great ending, I'm still laughing.
So any bets when someone dies on the show? |
On the next Arrested Development...
The Blue Man Group finally calls Tobias, offering him a life changing opportunity...unfortunately he can't hear the phone, so his life stays the same. That was one of the greatest episodes of any show, ever. Wow. I was literally in TEARS from laughing so hard. |
"Maybe I'll put it in her brownie."
Bwhahahaha! How do they get away with this stuff?!?!?!?!? :jawdrop: |
I nearly fell out of my chair with that brownie line. rotfl
|
Favorite parts:
-Of course, the "brownie" line. It's perfect set-ups like that that make me feel sorry for anyone who can't get into this show. -The Robert Crumb style turtle on the "Afternoon Deeelite" sign. -Buster's crane skills paying off. -the tender music that swelled when Michael said he wanted to spend more time with his niece - and then the way it stopped abruptly when he added that it was to get back at his son. -"colored man" -"he just wants to buy pot and wag his pickle at co-eds" -Annyongs fate revealed! |
I think this is the first show that I actually watch the same episode multiple times a week. It is just too damn funny! The stuff they get away with is amazing.
|
Damn funny episode tonight. Even though it's in nearly every episode the blue blobs of paint dabbed on the walls still cracks me up.
|
The look on Michael and Maebe's faces when they got to the chorus of the song was priceless.
The "in the Kitty" and brownie lines were great:lol: |
Show's how much I listen to lyrics and actually take in the meaning....that was too damn funny. I'll have to watch this episode a few times more.

Gonna find my baby, gonna hold her tight
gonna grab some afternoon delight. My motto's always been; when it's right, it's right. Why wait until the middle of a cold dark night. When everything's a little clearer in the light of day. And you know the night is always gonna be there any way. Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight. Thinkin' of you's workin' up my appetite looking forward to a little afternoon delight. Rubbin' sticks and stones together makes the sparks ingite and the thought of rubbin' you is getting so exciting. Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight. Started out this morning feeling so polite I always though a fish could not be caught who wouldn't bite But you've got some bait a waitin' and I think I might try nibbling a little afternoon delight. Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight. Please be waiting for me baby when I come around. We could make a lot of lovin' 'for the sun goes down. Sky rockets in flight. Afternoon delight. Afternoon delight. |
"It's me, Tobias. Who wants to take me to the hospital?"
:D |
I missed it and there is no more nova :(

Nova is gone, but there is still other places to get it. |
Is it safe to assume everybody has changed their ringtones yet again this week?

Man, I guess I'll be the lone dissenting voice and say that I didn't think this episode was as funny as the more recent ones. Granted, even an average episode of Arrested Development is better than most other comedies on TV, but I really only loved Gob's suit comments (which had a really lame punchline at the end) and Lucille's "colored man" line.
COME ON! |
I just discovered this show the last month after reading about it here. I love the subtle jokes as much as the blatant ones, but the 2 biggest crack ups for me have to be the coffin tick gone awry a couple of weeks ago and Buster dropping Gob from about the crane at about 100 feet. I swear I watched these scenes 50 times. Watching that banana drop just brought tears to my eyes.
The candy canes on the suit were great too. |
Michael, they're laughing with me!
Gob and Tobias totally crack me up. |
Great episode, as always.
No mention of Ann (Yam) and her amazing singing ability: "The word George Michael was searching for was 'creepy.'" Also, I wanted to see where GOB landed. |

As someone who has been in a situation like that, I found it especially hilarious. |
I sorta agree with Breakfast with Girls comment about this not being the best episode - At least, the first half seemed strained to me. But, once it kicked in, I was falling out of my chair (as usual with this show). The conversation with Michael and Oscar was brilliant (and the snail going "wheee" was great)!! Love this show! COME ON!!
