I thought the same thing.

It's a good thing then I guess that things didn't work out between Seth and her last week

Can't wait for next week

So... I guess Ryan is kinda dating his (adoptive) aunt now, huh?
I think the show is finally back on track now after a few average episodes. Hopefully a new Christmukkah episode will cement that.

Eww, i forgot about that. It makes Seth's comment about Luke and Leah even funnier.

Yeah, chalk me up as one who should have seen it coming, but didn't.

actually i didn't see anything after the fade to black. i'm assuming that was the end, but the recorder cut off. however, i immediately changed it afterwards so that won't happen again.

i really only thought it possible until right before it happened. didn't even see it coming a mile away.

We need screencaps of Rachel Bilson in the dress that she wore to The SnO.C.

Thank you.

After watching the episode again (recorded it), they really did provide a few hints to show that it was coming.

I like how they fleshed out Zach a little more. "I could take Seth Cohen"

Can't wait for Chrismukkah!!!

Good episode!

What an interesting family tree that is developing. And to think I thought Julie being Kristin's stepmother was out there. I have to admit, I didn't see the revelation coming at all and was also a bit disappointed I didn't.

Good episode but I hope they dont do the whole Love triangle thing with the kids all year. That will get old.

Looks like Kristin is going to get real PO'd next episode. So do you think we will see Julie's reaction as well? Didnt look like she was in the scene in the kitchen next week, But, everyone else is!

Hopefully we can just see Seth and Summer as friends, and forget about coupling for a while. Maybe explore the friendship that could develop between Zach and Seth. I was glad to see that Marissa and Ryan were actually not trying to be a couple. When they are together it just makes me want to turn the channel.

When she leaned down over seth after he got punched did she had a piece of tape on her breast holding her dress to her and you could see the tape? I swear I saw that but I don't have Tivo.

The penultimate episode of "Survivor: Vanuatu" drew an 11.9/19 for CBS at 8 p.m. "Joey," 7.0/11, and "Will & Grace," 7.1/11, put NBC in second for the hour. ABC's "Extreme Makeover," 4.8/8, beat out FOX's "The O.C.," 4.4/7, for third. The first half of "WWE Smackdown!" was fifth for UPN. The WB went with a repeat of the holiday special "Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer."

That was a fantastic episode. Chalk me up as another who didn't see the end coming, but should have. There were several hints throughout, but I just didn't catch them until the realization was made on the show. I like the two new female characters, I think they add some fresh blood to the show. Zach is starting to grow on me too, but it would be nice to have Luke back.

I found this episode pretty amusing with the 4 principal characters on their own little islands, but together begrudgingly.

Finally Alex has a decent hairdo going on, and she was smokin' hot. I envy the Sethmeister.

Now, given the redheadedness of Renee Wheeler, it was pretty much telegraphed that Lindsay would be the offspring of Renee and Caleb, so the final scene wasn't much of a surprise, but boy, did it just get complicated for Ryan in the blink of an eye.

I think The O.C. is back on track with this episode.

P.S. I think there was some hilarity to be mined if Seth and Lindsay had even a spark of chemistry last episode. Now that would have made next week's episode even more funny once Seth finds out Lindsay's his aunt in some strange familial accounting or sorts.

Very interesting article, including a possible major spoiler:

Spoiler:
Somebody's O.U.T. on 'The O.C.'
(Friday, December 10 01:35 PM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) Wherever Mischa Barton goes, lesbian subplots seem to follow. During a much-discussed run on "Once & Again," Barton's character found halting young love with Evan Rachel Wood's confused teen. In the indie feature "Lost and Delirious," Barton's character was shocked to discover that her friends played by Piper Perabo and Jessica Pare were more than just friends. Barton is expected to explore alternative lifestyle choices again in January, when Marissa Cooper finds love in unexpected places on FOX's "The O.C."

The drama's creator Josh Schwartz confirms to Out.com that next month will see some unexpected changes for Barton's character, who has had emotionally distant relationships with Chris Carmack's Luke, Benjamin McKenzie's Ryan and Nicholas Gonzalez's D.J. during the show's run.

"Marissa's at a point in her life where she's trying to find herself and her true identity," Schwartz tells the site. "There's another character who she really connects with. It's a girl, which is not something Marissa may have anticipated. But she's willing and game to explore and experiment with that."

Although Schwartz declined to discuss Marissa's future romantic foil, speculation has centered on Olivia Wilde's Alex, a new character introduced this season. Alex has already had a blind date with Ryan, a romantic kiss with Adam Brody's Seth and a kiss with a random female to prove a point, but that doesn't mean that there isn't room for flexibility when ratings are involved.

Schwartz denies, though, that Marissa's explorations are Nielsen-based. Since moving to Thursday nights this fall, "The O.C." is averaging more than 7.6 million viewers.

"We cooked it up well before the show ever premiered this year," Schwartz says. "We're constantly looking at evolving and growing these characters. And challenging them. They're at that age where they're open to it. It was either that or Oliver's return."

There's still no word on when Ryan and Seth will consummate their long-smoldering friendship.

What they need to do to her is kick her out of the show and then maybe the ratings will improve. Sorry, this is just my weekly I hate Mischa Barton rant of the week. I'm curious to see how they will handle it and present it on the show.

Loved the last line of the article. Very funny.

I'm surprised no one else has commented on it..... but are we going to see Jimmy and Julie get back together? They've been getting pretty close the last couple of episodes, and they had a few pretty passionate kisses during the snOC. I can see them on different sides reguarding Marisa in future episodes, though.

Y'know, the O.C. is definitely my #1 guilty pleasure on TV, but this episode could have served as the dictionary definition of the word "CONTRIVED," even by the series' own standards.

Much as I enjoyed it if there were one more romantic comic twist I thought I was gonna hurl.

I ruined the ending for my wife as we watched it this weekend... it's so implausible, yet because the OC is so much like a soap opera, you know it had to happen...

So Ryan has dated Seth's step-aunt (Marissa) and half-aunt (the new girl). Good thing she and Seth didn't hit it off...

Besides that, if you think about it, very little happened in this episode concerning the teens. I remarked to my wife that the ending of the last episode (with all four couples together at last) was the same as the ending of this episode (all four couples estranged in the beginning, but get together in the end).
