Me too. And Buster's military uniform was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.

I just watched it again (my new habit) and had completely missed the "editorial cartoon" in the Mexican paper the first time! The Cornballer rules!

Tommy Ceez 12-06-04 11:01 PM

Wasnt the caption on the cornballer cartoon "Frito Bandito!"

Big Worms 12-06-04 11:03 PM

Very funny episode! Had me laughing so hard!

Birrman54 12-06-04 11:23 PM

Was that the Parakeet cage in the attic near George Sr?

Jackskeleton 12-06-04 11:41 PM

This show is just to funny to even think of watching once per episode.
Sometimes the lines are so quick I miss every other joke as I am laughing at the preceding one.

I just finished watching and I completely missed the doghouse rotfl
I missed all the Peanuts references except for the song. :o I noticed the "out" sign on the banana stand, but it didn't click that there were Peanuts references all over the place.

I also love that bizarre whooping noise Buster made when Gob showed him the trapdoor in the coffin.

Red Dog 12-07-04 08:54 AM

Ah - the return of the SLUT shirt.

Can't believe how many Peanuts references I missed. Only recognized the music during the walks of depression.

This show just keeps getting better and better. I recently finished the first season on DVD and now I'm caught up on season two. My wife and I were laughing so hard we were nearly in tears while watching this episode. The impact of all the running gags is really heightened since I've seen all the episodes in such a short time. I'm recording the Charlie Brown Christmas Special later this week, it should be interesting to compare the two. I missed a lot of the references, but it's been a few years isnce I watched it.

If they continue at this pace, Arrested Development may end up as the greatest TV comedy of all-time when things are said and done. It's too bad that the other Fox series about an Orange County family involved in real estate development that I enjoyed so much last year seems to be tanking in its second season.

That's my brother in law's handiwork! He also made George Sr.'s birthday card. AD and Scrubs are all i need to make it through the week.

The Cornballer rules!
Wow, before this new season, wasn't The Cornballer only mentioned on the show once before (the episode where it was first introduced early on in season one)?

riley_dude 12-07-04 11:54 AM

Loved the Anne Frank joke and espeically the Charlie Brown gag. Especially the first one where he passes the dog house and theres a Beagle on top laying down.
Boy was I laughing. Great episode.

EEz28 12-07-04 12:32 PM

Very funny episode

Yeah, the Anne Frank joke was funny, GOB's gay flashbacks hilarious, i love how they always say Ann is funny to justify why George Michael is with her

just keeps getting better and better

i never would have got that they were doing peanuts gags, thanks for everyone pointing that out

It appeared in Michael's office in Amigos, as well.

I'm not sure if it was mentioned multiple times in Season 1.

Thanks, I just set it up to record.

Interesting coincidence. I just happened to watch "The Royal Tenenbaums" on DVD last night and noticed a few somber scenes w/ what seemed to be "Christmastime is Here" as the background music.

From imdb Trivia page for "The Royal Tenenbaums":
"... the song "Christmastime is Here" from _"A Charlie Brown Christmas" (1965)_ (TV) (qv) plays in the background of some of Margot's scenes."

Another dysfunctional family putting that same music to use. I wonder if AD creators were paying homage to "The Royal Tenenbaums" as well as the Peanuts.

I'm certain that they weren't paying homage to another person paying homage. it doesn't work like a chain. It's straight homage to Peanuts.

I just love the final countdown.

Man, this show is so layered and detailed that it's scary. Notice the box in the attic labeled:

Tracy's sweaters

If you can parse the meaning behind that, you're a hardcore fan.
