Really hope V'Las gets his in this episode. He is the 'worst' Vulcan I have ever seen portrayed. Foxworth is doing a great job of portraying an evil Vulcan.

Ain't that the truth? I hope both lower expectations of a Friday and lower budget means the ratings are right in line with what UPN is expecting.

The best thing it has going for it right now is that it's numbers are a good improvement over their Friday Night Movies of previous seasons.

Yeah, it is a better show now and it's ashame because most people have abandoned the show already and probably wont be coming back. Ratings are sinking each week.

Actually, they've basically gone up or held steady every week since the premiere, except for one week.

Here's the numbers for the first 8 episodes:

2.89 million
3.11 million
3.16 million
3.18 million
3.39 million
3.39 million
3.15 million
3.38 million

It actually looks to have stabilized at around 3.4 million, and this week could actually see an increase again since the Andorians are a big draw.

Whoa, it looks like Archer did a Captain Kirk dropkick on one of the Vulcan guards!

Spoiler:
The Romulans! How long have they been in control of Vulcan? I find it ironic that the Romulan spoke of reunification, something Spock will pursue 200 years later

Spoiler:
ROMULANS

now if they stick to continuity we should be seeing the war with them before the federation is formed

I guess not being a hard core Star Trek fan I didn't know who that was at the very end.

Spoiler:
It just looked like a deformed Vulcan to me, but I have heard of the Romulans. Are the Romulans featured mainly in TNG? Weren't they an enemy of the Enterprise in TNG?

This has been a great season thus far.

I don't mind being the voice of dissent. This episode was pretty lame. I loved the Romulan connection, and everything Jeffrey Combs does is gold, but the execution of the main plot thread was way over the top and kinda silly. Also, and very unfortunately, I find it impossible to get past how completely and totally unconvincing T'Pol is as a character.

Carry on ...

Funny, as a TOS fan I would have thought you'd appreciate that...

Even with a dropkick, he ain't no Kirk.

Btw, am I the only one who heard T'Pau say, "into the garbage chute, flyboy!"

I don't know about that, but the entire time I watched I expected the Vulcan commissioner or inspector or Grand Poobah or whatever to rip off his face and start laughing maniacally.

Still, as an attempt to clear up the mess the Vulcans have become, this was pretty good. It would have been better without Archer of Arabia's trek through the desert, but eh.

Pretty good three episodes. The only thing that stood out to me is that all the Vulcans seem to have too many emotions. T'Pol who has been living with humans would be the one that should be displaying more emotions but she was the only one contstantly hiding the emotions as Vulcans have always been known for.

Well, color me impressed. I had watched off and on for the first three seasons, and never really felt it, but tonite was the first episode I've seen this season after the premiere. What a difference a little bit of creative writing does. I am definitely going to have to find the repeats of the beginning of this season. They may actually make a go of this show after all.

Not only did I hear "into the garbage chute flyboy", but shortly after I quipped to my wife, "what an incredible gravel pile you've discovered!"

I think that this was one of the points about how the Vulcans have strayed from the path of Surak. Surak brought logic and peace to Vulcan, and since his time, it has degraded to the Vulcans we know see who are deceptive and assholes. Now that the original writings have been found, the Vulcans can see what Surak's original idea of Vulcan was and they can restructure their society again to the Vulcans we know.
