Conan is switching over to hi-definition

Conan mentioned on tonight's show during the Val Kilmer interview, the show is switching over to high definition in April.

It doesn't matter to me, because I just have a normal tv, but I thought some people would be interested in this news.

He's not in HD? That's bizarre. When I went for a taping in September, they were using HD cameras.

They've had the camera equipment in place for a while, but upgrading the control suite (not a small undertaking) was the holdup. SNL is also going HD next year.

Now those closeups of "Debbie Downer" will have even more meaning........ugh. Although, the more Tina Fey the better.

I believe that problem with Dave going HD is upgrading the Ed Sullivan Theater. He suppose switch over really soon after taking short hiatus. Evidentally he did not want to broadcast from a different location.

I remembering this from variuos threads on AVS forums, So I could be wrong.

That was pretty entertaining when Conan was showing his crablike fingers. Then he said he was dreading the HD broadcasts.

High definition is going to be the downfall of television as we know it. I have no desire to see Conan's pores.

What do they do when they're in HD and you can see all the 'flaws'? The few thing i've seen have been scary

Well the show looks incredible, not Leno But yea i love Conan and cant wait for him to take Leno's Slot. Leno is not funny in one bit. His bits are horrible and not very edgy. Cant wait to see what the future of HD has in store for us in the next couple of years.

Soft focus lenses a la Barbara Walters and her specials.

As long as the makeup artist knows how to handle makeup for HD, the stars will still be able to hide their flaws.

Until they smile. One of the things about HD is that I find myself distracted by people's teeth.

Yeah...I've actually turned on Leno's show just cuz it looks great, but I change back to Dave after a short time.

Thanks for the info about SNL going HD, I was surprised to see it NOT in HD when this season started. And of course, I can't wait to get Dave in HD. I could actually watch a late night show for entertainment AND the beauty that is HD.

I don't watch Conan much (on too late) but always good news when more and more shows make the switch, so that's why I clicked the thread. (Then didn't mention Conan 'til now.)
