Yep, which is why they are my second least liked team.

By the way, I went around my house and counted. It turns out I have 28 pieces of furniture from IKEA, all assembled by me!

I'm sorry that is not the correct answer. :(

My only complaint was the TWO instances of bunching early on. One is bad enough, but when you do two you make that whole middle stretch pointless.
You have to remember that these tasks are planned out far in advance and I think it would difficult for the producers to accuartly time when certain tasks are going to be completed. They didn't know that the teams would be starting so early in the morning for this leg because that's all based on how long the previous leg took. The previous leg was determined by how long the leg before that took.

Sure they can estimate when the teams will get to each task, but that isn't full proof. Maybe they figured the previous leg would take more time and the train station and store would be open when they got to them in this leg. It's possible.

Bullshit - the producers know that the leading teams will lose their time advantages every morning of every new leg when they get to their destination and have to wait for it to open. It's their way of keeping things "interesting." The only reason for the teams to finish first on every leg before the last one is to win a Royal Caribbean/American Airlines vacation.

I voted for Jonathan and Victoria to be eliminated this week. However, after watching last night episode, they seem to be a pretty competent team even with the fighting, yelling and abusive behaviour. They should be on the race for a few episodes more if they don't screw up somehow.
Will Jonathan have the nerve to actually strike her on TV if they ever get eliminated or be abusive towards her as he been so far in the race? Will they show that? This man is capable of doing anything.

Watching these two I was somehow reminded of the theme song to that old Hanna-Barbera cartoon, THE RUFF AND REDDY SHOW:
'They sometimes have their little spats,
Even fight like dogs and cats,
But when they need each other that's when,
They're Ruff and Reddy!"

(or more like Rough and Ready)
The way they are going, lets hope things don't turn into THE ITCHY AND SCRATCHY SHOW.

LorenzoL 12-01-04 02:03 PM

The latest installment of "The Amazing Race" did a 7.6/11 to win the 9 p.m. hour for CBS, though ABC was close behind with "According to Jim" (7.7/11) and "Rodney" (6.6/10). NBC was third with "The Biggest Loser." FOX moved up to fourth with the 4.1/6 for "House," better than the 3.2/5 for The WB's "One Tree Hill." UPN's "Veronica Mars" stayed close to its season average and held sixth.

I felt really bad for the sisters. It totally wasn't their day. Spending 8 hours rolling those things would have pissed me off.

I just don't understand how According to Jim can compete with AR6. But oh well, I'm biased.

According to Jim is one of the best comedy out there and rank right up there with Seinfeld -wink-

WTF is up with Jonathon? Did anyone else see him almost give Victoria a backhand slap in the cab, with her flinching? It makes me wonder what goes on at home with them?
Yeah, that was pretty infuriating!

Did anyone else hear what Victoria said in the little "intro voiceover" (the one they ALWAYS have for each team as they're jumping into the cab right after the first clue at the start of the show... the "this is how we're doing" sound-bite)? She said something about how Jonathan always has to get his way, and sure that creates tension, but "that's something I love about him, he's never boring". :hscratch: WTF?? Umm, okey, sure he's "not boring", neither was Hannibal Lecter... -screwy-

WillieTheShakes 12-01-04 04:47 PM

Does anybody else think that Lena's going to regret her choice of panties when she sees the footage of herself rolling those hay bales? If ever a situation called for a thong...

Canis Firebrand 12-01-04 07:17 PM

Wow... Just watched this episode.. Man.. Jonathon gets worse every episode.
In the cab when he was yelling, it looked like Victoria flinched. I wouldn't be surprised if he is physically abusive. We know he is verbally abusive.

And what was up with the old couple trying to use their age to get a break in the counting? I'm sorry.. but if you can't handle any challenges, maybe you shouldn't sign up for the show.
Don't try to cheat your way out of it.

I'm still not sure which team I'm rooting for at this point.
But I know I want Jonathan and the old couple gone.

My luck, they will come in last during the non-elimination rounds and be spared. :(

Tommy Ceez 12-01-04 09:22 PM

For those of you hoping Jonathin and Victoria go soon, Im not sure its gonna happen.

(Keep in mind Ive never watched the amazing race before so my observations are based upon my knowledge of human nature)

There is no conflict in thier team...he may be abusive and an asshole, but she is TOTALLY submissive. He runs the show, and gets to blow off steam abusing her. The teams with major internal conflict (horn guy) will suffer before they do because Johnathin is the dominate decision maker and the more obnoxious he gets, the harder she works to please him...they will not lose until he makes a completly rediculous decision and does not have a 'partner' there to correct him, but thats a roll of the dice, it could happen anytime. The teams with internal friction might go first.

Because remember, a Dictator may be an asshole, but he gets shit done.

BizRodian 12-01-04 10:13 PM

Hearing that Amazing Race is coming in first is rather cool. I remember in the past seasons when we got the ratings back and it was getting beat by reruns.

big whoppa 12-01-04 10:50 PM

No, I like the old couple. Breaks the monotony of all the young model types/aspiring actors. Nothing very distinguishable about any of them. I admit I felt some pity for the old guy when he was taking guesses on the numbers and sweat was pouring down his face.

My money is on the black father & daughter team. They've played a very fair game, have patience, are level-headed and although they've dragged here and there they are improving in position.

If anything, if I couldn't win at this show at least I could look back at the challenges I took and be proud of my good sportmanship. Some of these screaming, abusive dumbasses should be ashamed of themselves when they watch the program later.

Really impressed that Don & MJ made it past the frustration, didn't get eliminated and were literally right behind Lori & Bolo, even after that bike ride.
I'm thinking either they edited it to make them look farther apart leaving the hay challenge than they actually were or Larry and Bobo messed up somewhere along the way to the pit stop but it wasn't aired.

For just about every season of the race it's been the exact opposite.

BDLOU 12-02-04 07:39 AM

My wife noted when we watched this that its been the 3 same sex teams to go first. Not sure what that means but I found it interesting.

I was starting to warm up to them after the 2nd episode(I missed the premiere).

I was going to root for them as the underdogs in a sea of younger and more athletic competators.

But I'm sorry. After that sad display and trying to cheat/use his age in that fashion at Ikea, I have no respect for him at all.
You have to know of the types of things you will need to do in the course of the race. If you can't or don't think you can handle them, then you shouldn't sign up to be on the show.

I know he was desperate and had been there a while, but every other team had to do the challenge. They should have changed to "Build it" faster then they did instead of doing many many recounts and then trying to cheat by tossing out numbers and asking the girl to give them a break because "we're 40 years older then all these other teams."

I felt bad for the girls eliminated. They probably had looked over the clues in they hay. How can you be there for over 7 hours and miss the clue. The other teams came and got theirs pretty quick.
Phil seemed impressed with their determiniation and I was hoping that he would say that this week was non elmination, though then he probably wouldn't have come out to see them, just continued to wait until the found the clue.

Jim 12-02-04 11:35 AM

It was tough to watch the other teams find the clue in the hay so quickly while Lena had no luck. She must have missed some, but I didn't notice her doing it noticeably different than any other team. If anything, from what I remember seeing, she seemed more methodical than some players like Victoria or Don.

At the start of the episode I wasn't rooting for any team, but early on I noticed I started pulling for Gus and Hera and later for Lena and her sister.

I liked that they had 3 challenges last night. That made it different from other legs where much of the time is spent trying to find places.

Glad to see TAR is doing well in its time slot.

I may be thinking of someone else, but didn't the wrestlers wander around Stockholm looking for the af Chapman for a while? I seem to remember one of them commenting that they had been all the way around the island and hadn't found the ship yet.

In the past, three out of the five races were won by all-male teams, and that's probably why the producers started casting either out-of-shape jerks (the pizza brothers from TAR5) or geeks (this season) instead of alpha males to even the playing field.

No all-female teams ever reached final three, although Linda and Karen from TAR5 came close to be in the final four. Lena and Kristy are physical and smart, unfortunately they just got bad luck too early, and it has nothing to do their gender.
