Anyone else catch the CNBC special on Walmart?

Very good documentary IMO. I would highly recommend it even though it's two hours long and has tons of commercials. Very good jounalism showing both sides of the story. Good analysis on the business aspect, community, politics, legalities, foreign diplomacy, and even cultural differences.

I'm not sure when it will be re-aired though. Sorry.

I just saw this as I was flipping channels today. Didn't watch it, though.

This is on right now.

Interesting that 80-some % of all American households bought at least one item at Wal-Mart last year.

My favorite fact: sales of strawberry Pop-Tarts increase as a hurricane approaches. I'd love to know what the rationale is behind that.

it's a cheap food that lasts for a long time, and doesn't require preperation.

That's probably the basic idea.

I thought it was a great documentary. I personally hate Wal Mart and I will always pay a little bit more to shop at Walgreens or Target.

I actually find Target to be cheaper most of the time. I wouldn't go to Walmart at all if there was a comparable store that was open 24 hours.

There looks to be a similar program airing tonight on PBS, on the Frontline show:

Is Wal-Mart Good For America?

Looks like it airs at 9 PM EST this evening. Probably worth checking out.

It's about what I thought. Wal-Mart is not as great as it claims to be and not as bad as it's detractors says it is.

Yeah, but why strawberry? And for that matter, why Pop-Tarts? There are lots of other cheap prepackaged foods available in this country. It just seems odd to me.
