On the previews, Toby says he is leaving.

Can someone explain what happended with that in this episode. He's my favorite character on the show.

It was a joke they played on C.J. for her first morning. First Toby gave his letter, then Josh, then Bartlett walked in and said he was quitting also.

Toby doing the press briefing was pretty good. Not as good as the time Josh did ir, but still funny.

The whole thing with them interviewing potential press secretaries was a bit dumb, we've all seen it a million times before. Rest of the episode was good, and I'm really liking Jimmy Smits on the show.

yeah, that's another WW episode that didn't suck. There's already a few more this season than last that can claim that.

I agree. That's 2 in a row.

That girl who wants the job as the Under-Press Secretary is cute, but her voice is annoying.

The interview process was pretty funny, but unrealistic. At a minimum, each of the Cabinet Deaprtments has its own press secretary, and most of those guys would be in for interviews. Plus, CJ's had deputy press secretaries working for her, and some of those would be up for the job as well. Add in all the private sector people who would be mroe than qualified for the job and the idea that you'd have to interview Mr. Mumbles becomes downright laughable.

In terms of Leo, my understanding is:
Spoiler:
he'll be showing up as an elder statesman-type guy to advise everyone. He won't have an official position, but people will come to him for advice. In fact,

Super spoiler:
Spoiler:
Leo's going to advise Josh that Josh needs to find his own Bartlett and Josh will leave the White House to run Jimmy Smits's character's Presidential campaign.

Whoa, that would be cool.

West Wing 2, anyone?

Spoilers for the larger plot of the rest of this Seaosn of West Wing:
Spoiler:
They are setting up a 3-way battle for President, with Jimmy Smits and Josh on the one hand fighting against Bingo Bob and Will on the other for the Democratic nomination, and Alan Alda as a Republican Senator going for the White House. Last I heard (a few weeks ago), they weren't sure who would wind up winning and what direction they'd go in.

Thanks, JasonF. That sounds like a fun season. With the right writing this could work quite well.

Spoiler:
I bet who wins will be decided by which actor - Smits or Alda - is willing to sign a contract for the least money. And if both of them are too expensive, they'll go with the current VP.

I always thought that person would have been
Spoiler:
Sam Seaborn
Which would probably be true if those involved hadn't burned that bridge.

i have heard this is how they will eventually get josh and donna together. if josh is not working in the same office as donna, there won't be any work/romance conflict.

Are you kidding me?

They made that part of the preview look serious as hell.

Bastards.

Just got around to watching this episode, and I am starting to get more and more impressed with this season. The first two episodes were very mediocre, while these last two have been pretty good. I really hope this streak continues.

NBC may have bad promos, but the all time worst were the ones done by PTEN when they had Babylon 5.

I think every single promo had at least one shot of G'Kar screaming.

This episode didn't suck. I was pleased.
