Clubhouse officially strikes out

LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) If CBS's move of "Clubhouse" from Tuesday to Saturday night was like sending the show to the minors, then the network's latest action is tantamount to giving the baseball-themed series an outright release.
"Clubhouse" is gone from the schedule for at least the rest of November after whiffing in its first Saturday airing Nov. 6. That's all CBS is saying about the show for now, but its prospects for returning are probably shaky at best.
Saturday's episode drew only 4.2 million viewers, a low number even in the relative dead zone that is Saturday primetime. "Clubhouse" finished behind "Cops" on FOX and reruns of "The Most Outrageous Game Show Moments" on NBC and "Lost" on ABC. Its adults 18-49 rating was an equally anemic 1.0.

I knew moving it to Saturday was the death knell. Could it be because of the insider hatred towards Mel Gibson that this show is being ostracized. If not, then I have no idea what else it would be, because this is one of the best shows of the new season.

It's the Superman curse... no actor portraying Superman will ever have a career afterwards (and it gets worse than that...)
Unless you count hosting Ripley's Believe It or Not a career...

I have the last four episodes saved on my DVR. I didn't watch them because I just knew the show wouldn't last long.

At least Lois Lane is seeing a resurgence with Desperate Housewives.
This is actually one of the few new shows that I didn't even watching one episode of because the premise was so dreadful.

"Can I have my hand back now?"
"Congratulations, you've arrived."
"I wrote 29 letters a day for 374 years.."
Ok but seriously, I kinda wish I'd given it a shot. Just the whole Saturday thing... plus it seems sports-themed shows never do well in prime time. I guess people who are into sports tend to watch... sports.

Yeah, decent. It's a good family drama first of all to me, and a sports show second. I'd rather take a new episode of Clubhouse over a recent episode of 7th Heaven.
Oh, well, maybe with Mel Gibson's influence we can at least get the show on DVD, with some unaired episode, if there are any.

Ha! What did they expect? that having it on for those having a hard dealing with no baseball would watch it? More sports out there. No need to relive the season of baseball.

I was not aware that there was any insider hatred towards Mel Gibson. In any case the show failed to garner any ratings despite a ton of advertisements that where run. This show was not killed by it's timeslot or network mishandling, It bombed because nobody wanted to watch it.

for a family show, it wasn't too bad. it wasn't the best thing but it wasn't the worst either. i could tell, though, that once they moved it to saturday, that was it.

Heh, hopefully this frees up Dean Cain for some guest spots on Smallville.
