TV DVD reccomendations for Christmas

This is what I am planning on getting for Christmas.....any other reccomendations please put them here.

1) Six Feet Under-Complete First Season

2) The Sopranos Season 1

3) 24 Season 3

4) Sex and the City- Season 6 Part 2 ( yes I know it comes out on the 28th but I still have it on there....I still wish they had better packaging and they combined all into one giant 6th season).

Anything else I should ask for? I am already done shopping for everybody($500.00 later) so I amready to receive now

It would help to know what you already have, but anyway:

Arrested Development - Season 1

The entire run of Mr. Show is now out too (3 DVD sets).

Alias- season 1
Nip/Tuck- Season 1

Alias has three seasons released and Nip/Tuck has two.

Finally SITC is releasing part two of season six. Then it will be all over.

Roswell - Season 1 and 2. If you wait till Summer 05 They will release the final season and also they might have all 3 seasons seperate and 1 big box set where you can buy all 3 seasons in 1 big box set (prob 17 discs)

3) 24 Season 3

didn't you just finish watching season 1? You should start working on finishing season 2.

My vote is for Arrested development S1. God damn beyond funny.

My friend bought me 24 Season 2 a few days ago Jack(this guy has so much money, but at the same time is as gracious as they come), so that's why I asked for Season 3.

As to what I like. I LOVE DRAMAS. I do like Comedy if its done well and its funny(i.e. Sex and the City). I have never seen Six Feet Under, but HBO has never let me down yet. I do have to ask, since the series was created by Alan Ball, is the story as dark as American Beauty(which I was not that big a fan of).

I also love Sci-Fi if done well as well(Star Trek:TOS and Star Trek:The Next Generation).

I also LOVE shows that build on each other(like 24). Meaning shows where each episode plays off the next one.

What I Dislike

I hate shows with laugh tracks(a big pet peeve of mine...if I find it funny, I'll laugh I don't need someone to tell me when to laugh). I hate Reality TV. I hate dumb supercial comedies(The OC)

Then I would recommend Coupling (first 3 seasons out and the 4th is on the way) for comedy. Arrested Development is also a solid choice. Chappelle Show is great if you like skit comedy.

As for dramas, my recommendations are Boomtown, Homicide, Nip/tuck, Oz, The Shield and West Wing.

Do you like movies like Se7en and Manhunter or Silence of the Lambs?

If so try Millennium Season I
Chris Carter producton and every episode is like a 1 hr. movie.

If you like HBO series try OZ

Arrested development has jokes that play off each other through the entire season

It's basically American Beauty: The Series, in the fact it deals with all the same themes, adds new ones, and expands on everything. If you didn't like American Beauty because it was "dark" I can't say you should buy Six Feet Under.

I also love Sci-Fi if done well as well(Star Trek:TOS and Star Trek:The Next Generation).

I also LOVE shows that build on each other(like 24). Meaning shows where each episode plays off the next one.
Combining these two, you'd think you'd like Deep Space Nine...

I second that - espcially if you like dramas. I wasn't going to buy it myself, but I was in a mood and did - glad I did even though I saw it on tv.

If you like scifi I would suggest Stargate and Babylon 5. If you saw the stargate movie and thought it was so-so I suggest you still give the series a try. it takes on a different dymanic that sets it apart from the movie.

as for B5, just trust me on this one.

Everyone has different taste, but these are the tv shows I think are worth watching and keeping (as opposed to reselling):

TV shows:

Farscape
Babylon 5
The Black Adder

TV miniseries:

Gormenghast (BBC)
Pride and Prejudice (BBC version with Colin Firth)

I'm thinking of getting Red Dwarf for the holidays, but I've never seen it. A mixture of space show and britcom seems appealing to me though since those are mostly what I watch.
