I will admit, the instrumental part of that song wasn't too bad

Originally posted by Pressplay If they do that, they'll have to record another ending, since she "explained" what happened during the last segment. |
Since they were using a "pre-recorded" track...did the band actually play their instruments???
|
Other then the hardball skit, and the music screw up, that was a terrible episode.
I can't believe they did another debate skit. If Bear City isn't enough to get Tina Fey demoted nothing ever will be. |
I wonder if this screw-up will be on the next season of her show. :hscratch:

I'm going to record the west coast feed so I can see how they fix it if they do. Hopefully they won't, it was the only funny thing on the show.

I am working on encoding the video and editing. If someone could provide webspace to hold the video it would be greatly appreciated!

Good episode. Certainly the best so far for this season. Jude Law was an excellent host. As for Ashlee Simpson, I very very rarely watch the musical guests, but I happened to see her second set. The band started playing, she danced a jig for a few seconds , and walked off stage. Apparently the band played the wrong song, and she couldn’t handle it.
Hardball Hilarious opening sketch for the first time in quite a while. Poehler was great , mentioning Dick Cheney‘s lesbian daughter “hardcore carpet cleaner” and “time to bang the donuts”. Then Will Forte came on as an apoplectic Zell Miller, and I totally lost it. Monologue Jude Law sings a song about how gorgeous he is, with the female SNLers as backup. Another winner. Law was really on his game. Air Commander Law and Poehler film their Sky Captain-like movie in front of a green screen, with effects to be filled in later. Kind of funny, especially when director Myers is pounding on Law’s head with a styrofoam “fireball”. Ad parody You know Dyson, that creepy guy who designed a vacuum cleaner? Now he’s designed a toilet with the same technology. Somewhat clever. Presidential Debate Yes, another one. Nothing new. Paris Hilton’s Apology Rudolph as Hilton, apologizes for using the word ******, and starts listing all the black guys with whom she would have sex. Law doesn’t have much to do as her sidekick. Okay. Weekend Update No really big jokes on WU tonight. Sanz came out as the ghost of Babe Ruth for a deadly bit. You would think there were ghosts in the audience, with the way they weren’t laughing. C-Span Press Conference Law as British PM Tony Blair, answering questions with a little help from George Bush. Eh. Trump promo for Halloween episode of “The Apprentice Trump acting normally, like a total load, while filming a promo. I have no doubt that this skit is truer to life that you would think. Bear City Fuck, these outside films are always stinkers. Bears taking over society is no exception. Peter O’Tooler and Michael Caine The two drunken & confused actors stumble into a Taco Bell, and decide they are hosting a talk show. Excellent imitations by Law and Myers, and a very funny bit. Bear City I need to punch somebody. |
Aw, I'm sorry that I missed the Simpson screw-up. WU is pretty muich the only section of SNL I watch regularly. There was a few laughs for this WU, but the ghost was pretty lame, must have been a writer who was a Red Sox fan pouring salt on the wound of bitter Yankees fans. :)

I've uploaded the video in case you missed it. Follow the link in my SNL Recap.
(I hope this is allowed... I'm just supplying something people asked for... not shamelessly self-promoting) |
That show sucked from beginning to end. Ashlee's screwup was interesting, until she lied to millions of people about what happened. That just made it pathetic.
|
Auuuucucucccccchhhh I just saw the ashleywreck.. dont blame the band..
Thats too funny!! |
 @ that crazy dance of hers...
|
Wow, glancing at this thread made me want to catch SNL tonight here on the west coast instead of popping in a DVD :) Hope it stays intact!
|
The Ashlee screw-up better be on the west coast feed. ;)
|
Thanks for the link, lotsofdvds.
lol, funny stuff. Was that the SNL band or Simpson's band? |
Thanks for posting that link, lotsofdvds.
I was gonna record it here on the West Coast, but now I don't have to bother. Unbelievable. -rolleyes- Somewhere, Sinéad O'Connor is breathing a sigh of relief. ;) Rob |

I'm not convinced the band was even playing instruments. I think it was all on tape or DAT or something. I mean, why would a band just start playing the wrong song?
|
What I want to know is, if her band just accidentally started playing "Pieces of Me" over again, why couldn't they just stop and start the other song? It's not like they're auto-programmed robots or something. (Or are they? :D ) I think Ashlee actually does sing live, but her pre-recorded vocals are on low in the background in case her live singing sounds shitty. So it's not complete lip-syncing, but not completely live either. But it's pretty pathetic if her "band" couldn't even perform the song live.
The last time I remember an SNL musical performance go wrong was when Sisqo's microphone went dead during what I think was the "Thong Song". He was up there gyrating and dancing and all of a sudden.....silence. Luckily someone just threw him a new mike and he kept going, instead of walking off the stage embarrassed. I wonder what made Ashlee improv a square dance  |

Originally posted by Ranger When Simpson walked off, it sounded like the band was actually about to fade out, but then seemed like they picked up the tempo and kept playing when she was off the stage. Pretty strange, indeed. I guess this teaches you to use a CD if you're gonna lip sync! |

Pretty strange, indeed. What's funny is that what they were playing didn't sound all that bad. They musta been thinking, "Yes!! The bitch is gone! Now's our chance to shine baby!!" check out the smirks on their faces. |
From Lucky Magazine interview:
LM: What are your takes on lip-synching? AS: I'm totally against it and offended by it. I'm going out to let my real talent show, not to just stand there and dance around. Personally, I'd never lip-synch. It's just not me. |
