Enterprise 10/22/04

Episode Title: "Home"

With both the Xindi and the Temporal Cold War behind them, the crew of Enterprise return to Earth.
w: Mike Sussman d: Allan Kroeker

Spoiler:
Jack Donner previously played the Romulan Subcommander Tal in the Original Series episode "The Enterprise Incident" some thirty-six years earlier.

This is likely a filler episode before next week's arc, but I'm sure it will have importance later on.

I'm guessing that's the standard Vulcan "pre-arranged" marriage, like Spock in "Amok Time"?

N'Pol's mom's name is T'Les. Is that because we see T'Les titty from her than her daughter?

nice so far. looks like they might be able to get back onto the birth of the federation thing that this series was originally pitched as
the 3 screened viewer like in TOS is a nice touch
Andorians are on Earth. sweet
the new NX ship is named Columbia, nice tribute to the shuttle crew

luckily there's more to this episode than last week's preview suggested. the preview made it look like simply a rehash of the TOS pon far episode

This episode reminded of the TNG ep "Family" it had the post traumatic stress and a humorous fight with a little post 9-11 rationale thrown in. This makes two weeks in a row that Mayweather has lines, the writers keep this up and I'll begin to think he's actually part of the cast!

I did think it was funny that when Archer was up on stage at the ceremony, only cast members were with him. None of the rest of the crew that did their part in stopping the Xindi.

Yeah, I think they are definitely going back to the original promise of the show. With the Vulcan arc coming up, and the Andorian-Tellarite arc after that, the political atmosphere leading up to the Federation is definitely being established.

I really liked the Birth of the Federation story lines. The hints at things to come (Reed Alert!) mixed with the old earth elements (baseball caps as part of your uniform!) were a lot of fun.

I love the Vulcan/Andorian political elements and the way the Vulcans are portrayed. I'll be happy they are getting back to that.

Where are the details of the Andorian/Tellarite storylines coming from?

There are details up regarding the first episode, "Babel One", on Trek sites. I personally haven't read them since they are pretty detailed and basically tell what happens from start to finish, but you can find it on www.trektoday.com

Some UPN affiliates rerun it on Sunday evening. If you're in the Philadelphia market, UPN57 shows it at 11PM. The Harrisburg affiliate airs it at 8PM. If you're in the Pittsburgh market, looks like you're out of luck.

I was actually pretty surprised. This is the first Enterprise episode I've watched since about halfway into season one, and it wasn't bad. I may have to watch next week.

The character Archer is so fucking corny, Scott Bakula is not doing a good job.

True. I still don't think it's quite DS9-quality but it's definitely better than what I saw during the first year.

An improvement from the last two, no doubt. Still a long way to go though. I agree with lisadoris, this was Enterprise's "Family" episode. Nice to see T'Pol's mom saying "you've changed", it brings to the forefront just how "unVulcan" T'Pol has become since leaving home.

I thought we were going to see
Spoiler:
T'Pau?

That's what I thought as well.

It's interesting to see the anti-Federation sentiment on Vulcan.

I hope this episode marks the beginning of some better storytelling.

This was easily the best episode of the season and one of the better ones overall. These are the kind of episodes they need to be doing.

She's in "Awakening" (Nov. 26) and "Kir'Shara" (Dec. 3).
