The Wonder Years or Freaks and Geeks?
I know TWY isn't on dvd, at least not in full season sets. But these shows were quite similar--dealt with teens, in high school, shows weren't sugar coated, showed the unpleasantness of growing up, both had many awkward or uncomfortable moments to watch, etc.
So, it's slightly unfair since TWY had six season and F&G just one, but which show did you enjoy more and why?

Your question/poll has nothing to do with the DVDs of said shows. It belongs in the TV forum.
"Who would win in a fight: Mr. Spock or Darth Vader?" <--- Doesn't belong in DVDTalk just because Star Wars and Star Trek on both on DVD.

I was a fan of Wonder Years when it first aired, but Freaks&Geeks simply destroys it in almost every conceivable way; from writing, acting, directing - everything. WY only benefits from having more time to develop, but F&G did much more amazing things with it's 19, 1-hour episodes.

Totally unfair comparison. One of the best things about Wonder Years in the later seasons is the emotional attachment. No Freaks and Geeks can compare to some episodes due to this fact. That said, on percentage scale, I would be inclinded to say Freaks and Geeks since there were really no weak episodes. But like I said, thanks to ABC, we can't compare. The only thing I can say is that F&G had the potential to be one of the best shows to ever air. I consider The Wonder Years to be in that category as well.

I had way too much internal debate about this one!
On the one hand, F&G is brilliant on so many levels, and I enjoyed every episode. I hadn't caught them originally, so got through them in a couple of marathon sessions when I bought the DVD.
But on the other hand is the emotional investment I had in the Wonder Years. We watched the Kevin character grow up for those 5 or 6 years so much, and while I certainly didn't grow up in the same era as the show, I was the same age as Kevin during it's run, so I really related to it more.
Ultimately, while I love, love, love F&G, I voted for The Wonder Years.

F&G by far. Wonder Years had good episodes and a lot of bad, sappy episodes. F&G feels far more "realistic" to me (maybe coming from someone who grew up in the '80s vs. the '60s). 1 season or not, it was by far the better show in almost every way.

Freaks and Geeks all the way. I lived through that experience when the show takes place.

I've only seen a few of the WY.

I loved both shows.
