More Angel on the WB?

Not a whole not new, but an interesting read, nonetheless.

In the story it mentions that Boreanaz is solid-booked for films, and if he gets any more "anti-Angel" they'd have to recast. Who, exactly, is beating down his door for him to be so high and mighty?

I'm sorry but for Angel a TV movie or as a series, it HAS to contain the original actors.

Most people, Boreanaz included, have moved on to other things, and good for them. The WB fucked over Angel. They owe the WB nothing, in my mind.

I agree. But I guess the question would be "How many of the original actors does it have to contain?" Would there be any interest in a TV movie/mini-series/new series featuring, say, Spike, Illyria, Gunn and Lorne? With Eve as the bad guy (or one of them)? Or some amalgam of Buffy/Angel, without either of the main stars? It seems like a show, with an alternating cast of the aforementioned characters and Giles, Willow, Xander, Faith and some of the other minor characters might attract the fans. They'd probably make Spike the star (even though I keep waiting for Tru Calling to get cancelled and get Eliza Dushku on a Faith show).

TV Guide had a snippet a few weeks ago stating that if spinoff Buffyverse movies are made, they probably won't be about the leads (either Buffy or Angel). They would instead focus on one of the supporting characters. Spike, Giles, Faith (yes!), and I think Willow were the names thrown out. I don't have a problem with this, provided they can find a way to do this without the big two's absence being too obvious (so no big end of the world catastrophe).

I'm totally fine with the cast having moved on. I really loved how they brought the characters to life and wish the show could have kept going on, but I'm also happy that they are all getting work...or in the running (I love Amy, but Lois she is not). I think a show focusing on Gunn and Wes could have worked. Also a show with just Gunn, with a new crew of do godders. But whatever.

It's weird since it's one of my favorites, but part of me hopes the show stays dead.

A Faith spinoff is the most obvious choice.

I know Ripper's been talked about for quite a while, but I certainly wouldn't mind a Ripper/Windam-Pryce show, dealing with the aftermath of both shows.

Well, the JP4 and Fantastic Four rumors have been shot down so, let's see what he has up at imdb:

Mr. Fix it (Comedy / Romance)
A man who tricks women into returning to their ex-boyfriends soon finds himself falling for one of his marks.

The Hard Easy (Crime / Drama)
Two unrelated men attempt a jewelry store heist on the same day

And of course, Wicked Prayer, the next Crow movie.

These are the movies he's staking (pun intended) his career on? I don't know...I've always thought one successful Buffy/Angel movie would help both of their careers.

Hmmm ... The Ghost and Mr.Giles would it be called? Perhaps you don't remember what would be the "aftermath" of Angel.

Sorry, but these little rumors that keep popping up from time to time just reopen barely healed wounds. The TV landscape is pretty barren now that Angel is no longer. Stuff like this just further reminds me of that fact.

Oh yeah - you SUCK WB.

Considering Alyson Hannigan's new sitcom never got pass the pilot stage, I'd love to see a "Willow" series (or series of movies) that featured Giles, Spike and Faith as regulars.

There really is quite a lot they could do with the still-living characters. Any grouping of the four left in the alley at the end of Angel would be pretty entertaining to watch, with any other additions being a nice bonus. My personal preference is to have Spike/Illyria as the focus. You can tell they really wanted to do more with Illyria than they had the chance to, and her and Spike had an interesting bond forming near the end of the series, so it'd be awesome to see a continuation of that.

One thing they should not do, under any circumstances, is recast any of the characters. A character like Angel, who was on TV for eight years, really wouldn't work well being recast. If anything, it'd be better to finally have him Shanshu after the events of the series finale, give his character some closure, then move on to focusing on other characters.

Not sure where to post this but if anyone's interested, the Angel puppet from "Smile Time" is going to be made!

Yeah, but look of the picture of the replica that they provide. It looks nothing like the Smile Time Angel.

This is Joss Whedon were talking about. How 'dead' is dead? Buffy died twice, Angel died, Fred 'died', Spike died... I think the only person to truly stay dead was Tara (But she wouldve come back at the end of Season 7 if her schedule allowed it).

You're right, maybe that is just prototype. I hope they make a vimpire face version.

Well, if you watch charmed, you can see Charisma Carpenter as a seer.
She has been in a couple of episodes this season.

Since Angel has ended she has been in these episodes

"Charmed" playing "Seer" in episode: "Styx Feet Under" (episode # 7.5) 10 October 2004

"Charmed" playing "Seer" in episode: "Cheaper by the Coven" (episode # 7.3) 26 September 2004

You know, I've seen that argument brought up all over the place in regards to Wesley, and it always struck me as pretty faulty.

Let's look at those deaths in detail....

Buffy: Her first death was by drowning, and was brought back via immediate CPR from Xander. Her second death was a mystical one, and was only brought back due to Willow's spell. If I remember correctly, Willow stated that the Osiris Jar that was destroyed was the last one. Either way, they were stated to be extremely rare. Not only that, but the aftermath to Buffy's resurrection makes me think that Willow isn't going to be trying to resurrect anybody else any time soon.

Angel: The viewers have seen Angel get dusted twice, in The Wish, and Time Bomb. One was in a parallel dimension, the other was a time travel episode, so those can hardly be counted in the "death isn't permanent in a Whedon show" camp. I've also always felt that he didn't actually "die" per se at the end of the second season of Buffy. All he got was a sword through the stomach, which isn't enough to kill a vampire. Sure, he got sucked into Hell, but he never actually "died".

Fred: Still dead at the end of Angel. According to that doctor, Fred's soul is completely gone. While he could be lying, we don't know for sure.

Spike: If we ignore his death in Time Bomb, his other onscreen death was in Chosen, and again, that was a mystical one. The amulet that he wore was obviously designed to trap the wearer in it (we'll never know if it would have worked on someone other than a souled vampire). It could also be argued that the amulet saved him from completely dying, as his essence got transferred into it as he dusted. Of course, we do know that a vampire can be brought back from being dusted, as Darla was, and the Order of Aurelius was trying to do to the Master, but it appears to be quite difficult, and hardly common.

Now, if we compare that to the deaths throughout the series of the mortal characters by regular wounds....

Jenny Calendar: Broken neck, stil dead.

Tara: Gunshot wound, still quite dead. Where did you hear that she would have come back at the end of the seventh season? The only thing I ever heard about Tara showing up again would have been as the one talking to Willow in Conversations With Dead People.

Anya: Cut almost entirely in half, the buried in the hellmouth, still dead.

Lilah: Stabbed in the neck, then decapitated. Only brought back due to a preexisting contract with W&H.

All the other random people we saw die throughout the course of the series: Kate's father, that weird bookstore owner, all the various vampire victims, etc. We hardly see them popping back up again unless there's an extenuating circumstance.

Now, I'm sure I've missed a few here and there, but unless Wesley signed one of those "extends beyond death" contracts with W&H, which seems unlikely, he's most likely going to stay dead. While he was being held in place by a spell, his direct cause of death was still a rather large knife being plunged into his gut.

Personally, while I really did like Wesley's character, I'd rather not see him come back. I hate it when shows cop out like that. His character arc had reached a good conclusion and he had a very moving final scene with Illyria. Bringing him back would just be silly, and an unnecessary press of the reset button that would not fit in with the rest of the show at all.

The thing I heard about Tara was the rumor of a dropped storyline that had to do with some mystical item that offers Buffy one wish. She wishes Tara back to life. Or something like that.

Since Wes worked for W&H, I can definitely see him coming back due to his contract. Holland did, and I think Lilah did too, didn't she?

I'm crazy bitter that Charmed is still on tv while Angel is not. So I cannot watch. That being said, I was channel surfing and came across an ep with Charisma in it and damn if she didn't look like sex on a stick. The hair (or wig) is back and its as yummy as ever.

We don't know for a fact that Wesley is dead. You're taking Illyria's word for it that he died? Or maybe that stab wound to his stomache? Yes, they showed him "dying", but that wouldn't be the first time we've been misled. Heck, Wes doesn't go down easily - remember that scar he had almost completely around his neck in season 4? It's also not impossible to think that Illyria used something in Vale's magic stash to heal Wesley, and stored him somewhere to heal. See Buffy lieing to her friends when Angel returned.

We've also seen Darla die. She came back. We've also seen Joyce die. She came back (well, we never got to see her, but yeah, she was brought back in some form.) The 4 zombies came back in The Zeppo. Darryl Epps in Some Assembly Required. Admittedly, we don't want Wes to come back as a zombie, but still, dead people don't stay dead around here.

Anya's a former demon. I don't see why she's not a candidate to come back.

Yep, Lilah & Holland came back. I'm betting Lindsay could come back for the same reason.

As another poster mentioned, Joss did say Tara would have come back.

So, whether Wes is dead or not, I'm sure he could come back for the Ghost and Mr. Giles show.

Here's the latest, straight from Whedon hissownself:

* I asked Joss about the fake-sounding rumors suggesting that the WB wants to revive the “Angel” series. He said no one has contacted him about it.

* Joss said he is "salivating" to do a "Faith" spinoff series if Eliza Dushku wants to. Dushku, who played the angry slayer on "Buffy" and "Angel," recently said publicly she believed Fox had finally cancelled her most recent starring vehicle, "Tru Calling."
This information comes from (by way of AICN) yesterday's "Higher Stakes" bash, where Whedon and a number of actors from both Buffy and Angel did some fund-raising for the Kerry campaign.

Too bad Dushku wasn't there as well. She's been quite politically active this year with "Rock the Vote" and Kerry fundraising, so I'm a bit surprised she wasn't involved. All indications seem to point to her being willing to reprise her role as Faith (much moreso than Gellar and Boreanaz, apparently. (There respecitve roles, not Faith's)). So if she's free from TC, and willing to a weekly series, and the WB is looking to make amends...
